    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3761236 Absolutely nothing new is in there and it almost seems like whoever wrote it is trying to create something because he hasn't gotten word from either side today on where the talks are at. The fact that ESPN is saying that a deal is unlikely to happen gives me all the more confidence I need to believe that a deal is going to happen. Just because of the fact that Derosa is being made semi-available probably strengthens the Cubs chances to get Peavy because they can weigh multiple offers from teams and take the strongest one to help them land Peavy, it might take a little longer now, and ESPN can go on the FAKE DEADLINE Towers never really set and all, but by getting more teams involved for Derosa only increases our chances of getting Peavy IMO. Well at this point there is no doubt that Hendry can have Peavy if he wants. If he's come this far and gotten this close, I wouldn't think he'd let a small difference in talent given up let this thing fall apart. I think there will still be some haggling and posturing that goes on for a couple days.

    You mean right now? You need to stop getting so excited or every report that says it's close and then getting all bummed out any time someone says it might not be. Ther'es nothing really knew from Stark there. Like someone else said, it sounds like more opinion than anything else. Plus he's been pumping the "Cubs are standing firm" POV for a few days now. His source could easily be somebody from the Cubs who is putting that out there on purpose.

    yes he has averaged only 33+ starts and 208 innings the past 7 seasons, that certainly screams "injury risk" to me i think he was implying that he'll become injury prone because he's going to the yankees

    i don't really care if he's a douchebag to people outside of the clubhouse. by all acounts he's become a very good teammate and a good clubhouse guy.

    I also think Bradley's attitude would be good for this team. We need a cocky a-hole to bring some a-holish swagger to this team. Zambrano isn't really an a-hole, he just has anger issues and is really intense. Bradley can really rally a team and give them an edge they've really been missing over the past couple years. That, or it could be a disaster.

    I think we should expect more of a high .800s OPS I'm not as thrilled about bradley as I was now that it looks like DeRosa is on his way out

    By the way, apparently some radio station is reporting that the O's offered him 9/180 and the Nats topped it by offering 10/200. Who knows if that's true or not

    I agree, but I don't think Lou thinks that way. I remember during the season people got annoyed at the way he'd stack the lineup with all righties against LHP.

    Do you really think they look at stats that closely? He bats lefty. I like Fontenot, love his plate approach. But is there really a difference between him and DeRosa? It's just handedness. Bradley can bat lefty. BTW, I like Bradley, always have. Well I'd hope that they look that closely at statistics. The whole point (for them) is to add a good lefty. Bradley isn't good as as lefty. I'm not saying I care... I want Bradley and I don't really care about the lefty stuff anyways. It would just surprise me since Lou is so smitten on every available lefty... lefty

    bradley is a + half win defender abreu is a - 1.5 win defender in other words, bradley is $9M more valuable than abreu on defense alone and theres a decent offensive advantage for bradley as well Any kind of fielding statistics on Bradley were probably compiled a few years ago when he was healthier and actually played some OF. Plus... you know.... they're fielding statistics

    You do realize that we slapped CC around when we faced him dont you? 2.78 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 15/3 K/BB against the Cubs last year Didnt we chase him after like 6 innings both times we faced him? Faced him 3 times.. he went 6.2, 7, and 9. Anyways, I think the guy was happy that he's out of the division because it makes the Brewers worse.

    I'd be kind of surprised if they got Bradley, considering Lou's obsession with adding a lefty Bradley career as LHB vs RHP- .270 /.362 /.436 Bradley career as RHB vs LHP- .303 /.387 /.504 I'm not saying I care... but I could imagine Lou and Jim caring since they desire a lefty so badly. Im not sure they're going to choose a guy who is a .798 OPS guy as a lefty
