  1. the pp tonight reminds me of the bulls offense. make like 5 back and forth passes that accomplish nothing and then settle for a bad shot from outside
  2. if they lose this game they deserve it
  3. if they don't eventually get a goal out of all these penalties that would be really bad
  4. almost 4 minutes of a 2 man advantage so far this game and they haven't even come close to scoring. they just keep taking slapshots from the point. come on
  5. well that kind of made up for the bs instigator call
  6. Has anyone noticed how much Versteeg looks like Michael Barrett?
  7. Orr is a bad man. Pretty much every top ranked fight on hockeyfights.com involves him
  8. 2 players on the same team scrapping in practice isn't really a big deal at all. That happens a lot in hockey.
  9. I think Lou is an awful in game manager, but a decent manager overall. To say he's even close to as bad as Dusty is really really stupid though.
  10. This is pobably a dumb question, but I don't really keep up with this stuff. When they say "completes the sale", does that mean in the next week or 2 when the winning bid is chosen, or when the actual sale in final in April/whenever? I've been assuming that all this talk about "Hendry might pursue Peavy after the ownership situation is settled" means after they find out who the winner is, but a lot of the quotes make it sound like they're talking about when the sale is actually completed.
  11. Somebody posted on another board that Dave Kaplan said he'd rather have Michael Young than Peavy. he said something like "If I'm gonna go out and sign someone to a 60, 70...80 million dollar contract - gimme the guy who just played 156 games rather than a guy who missed 6 starts to injury." Awesome
  12. it's only for a year or 2 though, and he'd be pitching to set up the rest of his life, money wise. he can move home in 10 years when he's done. it would be a really bad career move to go to texas.... especially on a short term deal.
  13. Going to Texas would be a pretty dumb move for Sheets considering it would be a short term deal and he'd be playing for another contract in a couple seasons
  14. Agreed...Your trading a 4th outfielder, a utility infielder, and a pitcher who can't throw a strike let alone pitch The problem is, think of the package we could have gotten for those 3 last offseason. We probably gotten Brian Roberts or anyone else along those lines. Now, we'll get a whole lot of nothing. While our actual loss may be a 4th outfielder, utility man, and a guy who might be finished, our opportunity cost is much larger. A complete butchering of what were once very valuable (and sought after) assets. butchering? more like bad luck. hindsight is 20/20. at the time, trading hill for roberts was a really bad move. there was no reason for hendry to think hill would completely meltdown. I'll buy you're Hill argument because I was against that too, but I'm not paid to make those decisions like Hendry. Heck, a lot of people wouldn't have traded Hill for Peavy last offseason had that scenario been presented. Hill was probably our best pitcher in 2007 (maybe Lilly). However, that would have been the very definition of selling high, something that Hendry hasn't done much of (except DeRosa, but he didn't really get anything for DeRosa). However, what about the other 2, especially Pie? He has pretty much no value right now. i don't think cedeno and pie really had that much value last offseason either. as for hill, it doesn't matter if he would have been "selling high". it would have been a bad trade at the time if he used him to get roberts. selling high doesn't real mean anything if you overpay. we "sold high" on derosa but we got a crappy deal, so who cares? you can't fault hendry for not trading hill. at the time it would have been really dumb and we all would have been flipping out (and rightfully so). the fact that he completely fell apart doesn't mean the front office screwed up. it means we got unlucky. not much you can do about that think about how many times in the history of baseball somebody been able to say "man, we realllllly should have traded that guy last offseason when he had good value". it's part of the game. think about it from the other side. what if we had traded soto as a throw in for some mediocre player before the 2007 season? that would have been even worse than not getting anything for hill. it goes both ways
  15. plus his numbers were kind of pumped up by fenway
  16. Miles is also going to be our power lefty off the bench. not the point

  18. that was a really weird article
  19. as have i see, this is what i'm talking about. what does that post even mean. "as have i"? that's just nonsense that has nothing to do with anything/ that exchange between you two was pretty classic though, since you accidentally contradicted yourself big time. you talk about how you can form an opinion based on miniscule information (which again, is really really dumb and ignorant), then when someone does the same about you, it's "you don't know me!". just like you don't know prior and certainly don't know enough about him to be forming stupid ass "opinions"
  20. also, miles doesn't even figure to get many at-bats as a lefty. fontenot will get all those. the majority of miles' time figures to be against lhp as a 2b.
  21. To reallocate payroll to worse players. I never said I agreed with it
  22. Hendry might say that he was traded to get more left-handed, but the main reason (which he obviously won't admit to) was to shed payroll.
  23. uhhhh yeah. let me know if you change your mind and would like to do so. how is making baseless accusations about a player "talking baseball", but exposing it as stupidity is not? you're right though. players can't possibly stay injured for 5 years if they are committed to getting healthy. it's impossible effort, willpower, desire, commitment. look those words up. they all actually mean something. And not a single one of them was going to make him healthy any faster. If you want to say you think he's lazy, so be it. What I do have a problem with is your claim that working harder was going to make him healthier or recover faster. It wasn't going to help, unless he was so dedicated that he went to medical school, became a doctor, examined his own shoulder, found the problem that other doctors (yes, that's plural) missed, and surgically repaired it himself. what a stupid, stupid thing to say. working hard to recover quickly isn't going to make him healthy faster? lol, are you serious here? have you ever had an injury that knocked you on your ass for a bit? i'm guessing not, otherwise you would know that your recovery can be expedited depending on how you intend to recoup. you're just not understanding his point. he's not saying you don't have to work hard. he's saying that at a certain point, with certain injuries, you've maxed out the effect that working out has on your recovery. with serious injuries like prior had/has, working only can do so much. despite what fantasy you want to believe, there are injuries tht you can't just "work off". you can do what you can to help speed the process along, but prior couldn't just cure his injuries with work.
