  1. you just don't get it don't you realize how jealous you sound of him? seriously. i hope like 10 years from now you look back at all these posts and realize how ridiculous you look
  2. seriously though, you don't think there's anything wrong with a supposedly huge blackhawks fan rooting for detroit just because there's a player on the other team you don't like?
  3. YOU lost respect for me??? I'm DEVASTATED! Let's focus on the league 6 minute love after a goal love compared to my hate. okay. one is really creepy and the other isn't
  4. i'm not even joking when i say i've lost a lot of respect for you this last week. seriously, this whole crosby thing is getting really creepy.
  5. i remember when i stayed at the same hotel as the cubs last year in miami i was standing in the elevator and it stopped on a floor to pick some people up. my and a couple other people in the elevator had just got back from the cubs game so we still had our cubs stuff on. the door opens and jim edmonds in all his glory is standing there. there was like a 5 second awkward silence as he just stared as us. it was really weird. eventually he's like "uhh, i'll catch the next one." then the elevator door slowly closes as edmonds is still just staring as us really weird moment
  6. i don't know. with the way this organzaition seems to be headed (aging sluggers, big contracts, etc) i think trading away a good chunk of your remaining good prospects for a rental of holliday seems like a bad idea. we can't afford many more bad moves. i know we'd get the picks, but with our recent drafts that doesn't as appealing. if it came down to holliday or nobody, then i'd almost rather keep the prospects. i just don't see holliday as the piece that pushes us over the top, especially when it forces soriano to second. i don't think holliday is THAT good
  7. well if the price is right i'd be interested, but it seems like he's going to be THE bat that everybody wants to get. i feel like we'd have to compete with several teams to get him, and the price will end up being pretty high.... especially with the way he's heating up
  8. tell it to those jokers p.s. who is that dude
  9. Where did I say I think he's a "badass .900+ OPS guy?" when we're talking about giving up a really good package of prospects and moving to soriano for a 3 month rental, don't you think it should be for a badass hitter?
  10. In the road numbers you just posted, you really don't see a clear trend? Where did I say I think he's a "badass .900+ OPS guy?" We're not talking about Coors numbers. well we should be, considering those are the only numbers to make you think it's worth prospects and crippling defense to get him for 3 months and yeah, i see that his road numbers were getting better. the point is that they've never gotten to the point where you say "good prospects + soriano at 2B for 3 months of holliday? sign me up!" when you consider what we'd have to give up, the fact that he's a rental player, and the fact that we'd have soriano at second, a high .800's OPS isj ust not worth it. if we're doing all that, we'd better because some badass kind of mannyesque hitter. holliday is a nice hitter. he hasn't shown to be an elite hitter at anytime outside of coors.
  11. +1 wait, so you make a useless post to show your disdain, instead of actually contributing and saying where i'm out of line? i don't believe it i bet to feel pretty big when you take shots behind a keyboard though. you must get laid so much. the funny part is that when i saw you had posted in this thread i knew right away that would be the same unjustified garbage from you. how aobut you break the mold and tell me how i'm wrong to think that a guy of zambrano's "character" shouldn't be the one player that fans unanimously like the most. is it his declining performance? his childish behavior? his temper? the way he constantly disrespects his teammates?
  12. bs. no way a guy as competitive as big z would retire that early, assuming he's still effective. it's not easy to replace the ability to compete.
  13. my favorite z is still the dugout z when he's not pitching. especially when the cubs win on a walkoff home run. he's always the first one to home plate bouncing around like a little kid. you can say a lot of bad things about z, but the guy wants the TEAM to win.
  14. it was mind boggling that he thought it was okay to trade derosa AND sign bradley. i mean, seriously.
  15. Meanwhile were looking at a washed up Rich Aurilia, a journeyman Russ Branyan or a bust Wilson Betemit to help save us. but even branyan would be better than what we have. i don't understand how we can keep trotting andres effing blanco out there every day when you consider this organizations situation. i mean, really. one injury and we're forced to play complete trash every day? and it's not like ramirez being out for a while is something you couldn't have predicted. i mean obviously nobody oculd have predicted he'd suffer a severe injury that owuld sideline him for months, but he often has trouble with his legs and has to go on the dl at some point almost every season. how can we not have a backup 3b. miles? freel? blanco? scales? those are the guys we had to fill in foro ur best player? c'mon. remember how deep our team was last year? last year we were looking for a way to get a .900 OPS bat (fontenot) in the lineup. now we're looking for a guy who can ops over .700 I woudlnt have predicted that Ramirez would miss such a large chunk of the season. Yeah, things like that happen, but it not an assumption. did you even read the sentence right after that?
  16. Was that the same game when I think Rolen hit a home run, and the very next pitch Z nailed Edmonds and walked off the field? Didnt bother waiting to be thrown out or anything. Not that was a classic Z moment. Yep, in 2004. It was one of the most intense non-playoff games I'd ever seen, with the lead going back and forth throughout. Z gave up I think his second HR of the day to Rolen and, on his very next pitch, he drilled Edmonds in the lower back. hitting guys because you're pissed that you just gave up a game winning homer is awesome
  17. where did i say i hate him? i just don't see why he'd automatically be everyone's favorite player. it's fun watching him compete and hit and stuff, but by all accounts the guy is a big time a-hole, and really he's not a great pitcher anymore. he's a nice player. but nice try acting like i'm the only one who realizes that this guy is pretty much a d-bag
  18. what trend? i see that he's never had an OPS over .892 in parks other than coors. you don't see that? even in his monster years he didn't do it. what makes you think he's some badass .900+ OPS guy? coors inflated numbers? i didn't think people still fell for those
  19. No, but some people are desperate for offense. my point is that some people are okay with soriano at second which is crazy.... especially when we're talking about doing it to get a get who would be a rental player and might not even be that good out of coors to begin with. it would be a terrible move His numbers are better on the road. well obviously........ he plays in oakland. here are his career road numbers 04- .240/.287/.367 (.654) 05- .256/.313/.416 (.729) 06- .280/.333/.485 (.819) 07- .301/.374/.485 (.860) 08- .308/.405/.486 (.892) 09- .305/.392/.476 (.868) obviously he was helped a lot by coors. he looks to be a mid to high .800's OPS guy in a neutral park. obviously he's a good hitter, i'm not denying that. but a great hitter? no, i don't think so. if we're talking about moving soriano to second base and trading for a guy who is only under control for a few more months, he better be a badass hitter. holliday is not worth all that. even if he wasn't in his contract year i wouldn't really like it. it seems like a desperation move. seriously, a middle infield of theriot and soriano is a really really bad idea. adding an .865 OPS bat to the lineup isnt worth that
  20. Meanwhile were looking at a washed up Rich Aurilia, a journeyman Russ Branyan or a bust Wilson Betemit to help save us. but even branyan would be better than what we have. i don't understand how we can keep trotting andres effing blanco out there every day when you consider this organizations situation. i mean, really. one injury and we're forced to play complete trash every day? and it's not like ramirez being out for a while is something you couldn't have predicted. i mean obviously nobody oculd have predicted he'd suffer a severe injury that owuld sideline him for months, but he often has trouble with his legs and has to go on the dl at some point almost every season. how can we not have a backup 3b. miles? freel? blanco? scales? those are the guys we had to fill in foro ur best player? c'mon. remember how deep our team was last year? last year we were looking for a way to get a .900 OPS bat (fontenot) in the lineup. now we're looking for a guy who can ops over .700
  21. Why do you think Cashner is so good? He's not. It's ridiculous to act like he would be some kind of key piece when trading for a big bat He really has regained that 1st round luster with his performance in Daytona this year. He isn't anything special but he definitely has a decent amount of value and will likely be once again in the Cubs top 5 prospects. I don't know if he would be a large enough prospect to be a centerpiece for a player like Holliday (because of his control) , but it isn't an absurd notion either (because of his stuff and success in high A). hmm. i guess his minor league numbers are better than i thought this season, which is weird considering i check the boxes every day. still though, i want to see him dominating at at least tenn before i get excited. his overall numbers are still pretty unexciting at this point. if he's gonna walk that many guys i want to see him missing a lot more bats than he is.
  22. he's been doing pretty well, but this wasn't really a good start imo. his biggest problem in the majors has been walks. 5 walks in 5 innings is no bueno. at this point of his career i'd rather see him give up 5 hits and a couple runs with like a 5:1 k:bb as opposed to walking 5 guys but not giving up any runs
  23. am i the only one who is more excited about vitters getting a walk than a home run at this point? i'm not even being sarcastic
  24. thats what i said like 3 years ago when he was good enough to make me forget about how much of a d-bag he is congrats to him for win number 100 though
