  1. maybe you should read my posts. i said i expect him to fnish the season around .835 or so. that's the part i'm not surprised about. i'm surprised that he's been THIS bad, but i except he'll pick it up.
  2. abreu was like the least attractive option IMO. he's an atrocious defender, his numbers weren't really good, and the opnly reason they were evn decent the last couple years were because of the short porch at yankee stadium. his obp has also declined. he was right at like .370 the past 2 seasons, when he used to be well over .400 like every year. .370 isn't bad of course, but when you're a corner outfielder who plays terrible defense and hits for no power at all, it's not enough
  3. on pace means on pace
  4. Who isn't on the Cubs though? aramis
  5. Yeah his first start in MIL. I was thinking it was only a matter of time until he started getting hammered. He wasn't throwing a lot of strikes and he seemed to be giving up a lot of hard hit balls but they were just at guys. But since then he has looked legit, getting ahead, low number of BB, etc. He kind of reminds of Clement when he was here and effective. Getting ahead, low number of BB, not dependent on pure stuff... that doesn't sound even a bit like Matt Clement. yeah, he seems like the opposite actually. clement had really good stuff when he was healthy i miss clement and his chin poof.
  6. well of course he won't remain this good, he's been absolutely ridiculous so far as for santana and guys like that, wells doesn't really have the stuff to be that kind of guy. he'll never be a front of the rotation guy, but if he can keep hitting his spots and mixing speeds well, he could potentially end up being a nice middle of the rotation guy. still though, we're a long way from finding that out. 2 months doesn't really prove anything. let's just hope he keeps this going as long as possible. i will give credit to badnews though. in recent years i've seen him mention that he's a wells fan and thought he was better than his numbers showed
  7. he's developed into an adequate shortstop for sure (overall i mean), especially considering what he's making. i still don't like his defense, but i can live with it as long as he hits like he hit in 08 or 09 it would be tremendous if he could start going to right field again to pump his average back up while still yanking the ball out of the park from time to time
  8. does cyno hate zetterberg for his dive on the crosby slash in game 5?
  9. so he's raking close and/or late, but he's been sucking w/risp
  10. nice of ron van jeremy to throw lee under the bus during the postgame not a surprise that the players don't like him
  11. i hate seeing the lakers win, but i love to see redick make a fool of himself
  12. how do you know it won't make or break this season? all 4 runs yesterday were because we have a third baseman who can't really play third. a single game could cost us the playoffs. it's not like we're talking about giving up key prspects or anything like that. there's no reason that he shouldn't be able to find some scrubby .740 ops guy who can play an adequate 3B, anything is better than what we have. fontenot isk illing us over there.
  13. adam morrison! jj redick! it's the nba finals on abc!!!
  14. the timing was just slightly off on that play and it cost them. if he catches that ball a split second earlier it would have been right there
  15. i dont know if this has been mentioned, but i love that they keep showing the lebron/kobe commercials, especially when puppet lebron is like "we can't be doin this kobe... we've got the playoffs goin on!"
  16. as for wells, i don't know how good he can be, but his numbers this season so far are absolutely legit. i don't know how he's missing so many bats, but he is. his strikeout to walk ratio is sexxyyyy
  17. Yep, the people who judge those awards think wins are a relevant statistic to judge a pitcher upon. Exactly, and if they look at Well's underlying stats he is exhibit A on why W's mean very little when it comes to pitchers actual talent/stuff/ability/effectiveness. But ESPN and BBTN are always talking about W's being so important, so it must be true. i don't understand how people who cover baseball for a living still don't really understand the game the mlb network guys are the absolute worst. wayyyyy worse than espn.
  18. that's not it. when he's going good he throw the sliders for strikes basically whenever he wants to. when he threw it way outside, it was on purpose. he isn't throwing it for strikes anymore
  19. saying that he cubs don't have good enough prospects to find a backup 3B is pretty ridiculous. there is no team in mlb history that has had a farm system poor enough to not be able to get a backup 3b not to mention the thing about the cubs not having good prospects isn't even really true. out system has been performing pretty well this season. we have several pieces that are attractive
  20. If Soriano goes on one of his hot streaks during October he could carry a team to a World Series title. i can't imagine a playoff pitching staff being stupid enough to let soriano beat them that many times
  21. i can't believe nobody has blamed it on his blown save in the wbc yet (i don't, but i remember some people were freaking out about it when it happened)
  22. Gooz Marshall Wells Ascanio
  23. His overall numbers actually aren't really bad at all now. I said going into the season I expected like a 3.90ish ERA and a 1.30 WHIP. I think his WHIP i like 1.28 now and his ERA is just barely over 4.
  24. There's no way to know, but they're obviously a lot closer to being true than his ridiculous Coors numbers.
