is it really that hard for you to do that? funny to hear you call somebody obnoxious though, considering you constantly make posts just taking shots at me that have nothing to do with the conversation (and usually in a conversation that you aren't even involved in). seriously, what do you get out of constantly making one line shots at me (ones that you think are funny) and then running off? just try to not do that. thanks.

(a) knowledge is something that is KNOWN; a lot of people don't KNOW that theriot is a bad defender. (b) your posts need to stop being such condescending d-bags. a) yeah, just like people that don't KNOW that Jake Fox is bad at catcher, or that people don't KNOW that dusty baker is a terrible manager. b) condescending d-bags? why don't you go back at this thread and look at your posts, then tell me which one of us was the first one to be a condescending d-bag to the other.

seriously? Seriously. Plus/minus has him above average at shortstop for the past three seasons. While defensive metrics may not be perfect, there's no question that I trust their methodology more than your jaundiced perceptions. wait, so because i think he's a poor defender, that means i'm jaundiced? okay. seriously, this is not even some kind of heretic opinion. i thought it was pretty common knowledge that he is a poor defender. oh but some defensive metrics that will probably have him as horrible and miguel tejada as the best shortstop next season say he's good, so that's that.

do people still seriously use defensive metrics for anything at all? uzr, which is supposed to be the most badass defensive metric out there, has derek jeter as one of the best defensive shortstops in baseball this season. seriously, stop using defensive metrics.

Theriot plays awful defense. He's not a shortstop. And no, I don't think Boston would love to have Theriot's .720 OPS with terrible defense.

i just don't see any similarities between 2008 and 2004. the 2008 cubs were the best/most fun team to watch in our lifetimes, right? the 2004 team was nothing but unlikeable. the 2008 cubs were awesome and ran away with the division, but played 3 bad games in october. the 2004 cubs got in their own way constantly all season long and it ended up costing them a shot at the playoffs. the 2008 cubs were awesome in every way. the 2004 cubs were a bunch of underachieving douchebags

Last season was 2004 - all the talent in the world and nothing to show for it, unless you count the "2008" flag on the roof. This is 2005. Sky-high expectations, perceived (rightly or wrongly) key players gone, in contention until the late summer and utter mediocrity abound. Pray we aren't in for another 2006 next season. i don't remember the expectations being that high in 2005 at all. they won 89 games the year before and had a bad offseason. this season is so 2004 - disappointing season after high expectations - frustrating/disappointing offense - color guy (brenly/stone) ripping team members - controversial/highly paid right fielder who might be working his way out of town - crappy closer blowing games - manager making boneheaded moves non-stop the only thing missing is nomar

Uh he said Soriano has no business playing right now. I'm guessing he hasn't listened to Brenly during a Cubs game this year. Soriano has to be one of Brenly's least favorite players. I applaud Brenly for calling it how it is, although he picked a strange time to pile on Bradley. Lets face it, Bradley isn't the reason the Cubs have been losing all season. Even when he was struggling early on in the year, he was still getting on base pretty regularly. While it is obvious that Bradley is a head case and loves to play up the victim role, he still has two years left on his contract and could be a real asset to the team. The team needs to figure out a way for Bradley to keep his mouth shut and not be overly sensitive. brenly has the guys he likes and doesn't like. yeah but its not like he just picks and chooses who he wants to dislike. he doesn't dislike soriano becuase he sucks. he dislikes him because of his defense, poor discipline, poor fundamentals, blah blah blah. all that dave kaplan type stuff. he dislikes bradley because of the way he's acting (like a baby). soto, miles, and fontenot have sucked, but they haven't really given anybody any reasons to dislike them personally. they just suck.

Bradley had an OPS of about 660 in his first ~800 PAs. Are you saying that skewed his career numbers to look worse than they are? Well if that's true, you also have to consider he had a 1.000 or so OPS for about his last 700 PAs before joining the Cubs..... and considering his track record and the fact that most of those came in Texas, that stretch seems more like an aberration than an accurate portrayal of the hitter he is. Just like that .660 OPS in his first 800 PAs was not an accurate portrayal. I was hoping the 7 or so good months he had before joining the Cubs were some kind of progression for Bradley and he was going to be like a yearly .300/.400/.500 type guy, but I don't think that's the case anymore. I think the numbers he's going to end up with this season are pretty close to the numbers he'll usually put up from here on out (and the numbers he's put up for the majority of his seasons). High on base, low power/slugging. I think he'll fluctate between like an .830-.900 OPS for the rest of his career, depending on what seasons he gets hot. I think usually he'll be around an .840/.850 OPS. A good, not great, hitter.

I'd try to package Wayne or Johnson with one of your RBs to get a stud RB. Forte/Smith/McFadden seems really suspect to me.
