lebron is basically single handedly carryng the cavs to the best record in the nba if the knicks get lebron and one of wade/bosh/amare, then yeah. they absolutely are a title contender

The Bulls are still a better spot then NY, imo. the knicks can now afford 2 max free agents, the bulls can only afford 1 We already have a "max fa" in Rose so we don't need 2. In fact, Rose, Noah and Deng are better than any incumbent players on the Knicks roster (assuming David Lee is gone). So even if the Knicks lets say get Bosh and then try to sign Wade, we can counter by having Rose Noah and Deng. I'm not saying the latter two are all stars, but they both look to be very good rotation pieces on a contending team. i wasnt talking about who has the best situation team-wise. i was just saying that now that NY can afford 2 max free agents, that's even more competetion for a superstar this offseason.

I think so as well but, could that be another max FA? Wade and Bosh for example? Wade isn't going anywhere. Neither is LeBron. The Bulls best bet is Bosh and Joe Johnson, and that has a slim chance of happening. I doubt any team is getting two max contract players. The problem for the Bulls is that there are too many teams that can give max contracts and not enough great players. Joe Johnson does not have the skills to be a max contract player, but all you need to really be one is a team that is willing to offer him that. NY is going to offer him that after they fail to get LeBron. Why are some people suddenly so sure that neither Wade or LeBron are going anywhere? you're talking to a guy who also thought there was a good chance the bulls planned on getting tmac so they could extend him

only if the player we're going after is a complete [expletive] who knows nothing about basketball and only looked at the bulls win-loss record you again ignore the main point though. if a player cares enough about the current state of the team to make a decision based partly on that, then why wouldn't that player do the extra 5 minutes of research and realize why they slumped down the stretch? seriously, it's as if you're under the impression that these players will look at win-loss record and nothing else. if what you say is true and the bulls slump to a much worse record due to losing hinrich/salmons/tt (which in itself is highly debatable), then the free agents will see that and understand why they slumped down the stretch. they are humans capable of thought.

oh, and let's take the teams that are rumored to be going hard after max FAs this offseason and compare what they'll look like cleveland (without lebron) miami (without wade) knicks those are the main 3 teams that are going to be fighting for the big guys. which one of those 3 teams has the best team without any of the big free agents? the answer is chicago, and it's not even remotely close.

and you're still not acknowledging the fact that these FAs will understand that the reason they slumped down the stretch was to have money to spend on them. your logic is just all kinds of flawed

exactly. it's ridiculous to think a FA will be worried about whether guys like kirk/salmons/tt helped us win an extra 3-5 games or something ridiculous like that FAs will see a) money b) market/location c) rose/noah

the bottom line is that if a FA player factors in team performance as much as spongeworthy is claiming, then he's going to do the extra 5 minutes of research and factor in the fact that the reason they slumped down the stretch was due to getting rid of contracts for money to spend on THEM.

seriously. the argument being made is basically that the free agents care enough about the team to factor it in to their decision, but don't care enough about it to do 5 minutes of research on the team to see how they got the record they had.
