  1. Why? Saying you hate Twitter makes you sound like Bill Plaschke or something. Only twits use Twitter. Sounds like something Bill Plaschke would write. I don't get all these new age stats with the VORP and the WAR and the VOIXCYEIVH and the WeEniE! Who has time to understand that? I liked back when things were simpler, with just batting average and RBIs. I also don't get Twitter and their tweets and their twits and their twoodles! Who has time to understand that? I liked back when things were simpler, with just Facebook and Blogspot. or maybe it's just because twitter is stupid
  2. this is sure to lead to more golden opportunities for ryan dempster to not be funny

    Pro Bowl

i turned on the pro bowl and saw that david garrard was playing. then i turned it off.
  4. this is probably a dumb question, but are the bulls definitely going after one of the big free agents this offseason? i know it's been speculated and maybe even assumed, but is it for sure that they're going to go after one (or more) of the big 5-6 free agents?
  5. but even at his worst, kosuke was a better option vs RHP than johnson was. (i liked reed johnson btw)
  6. You mean like calling out team members like he did last year? yeah, over the past year or so theriot is really starting to establish himself as a douchebag.
  7. so we should think less of the character of soriano/ramirex just because their bodies don't hold up as well? that doesn't seem very fair, unless you're implying that their injuries are a result of poor conditioning and work ethic. and bradley/zambrano are better players than theriot, sooooooooooo
  8. i'd rather throw money at mark prior than guys like aaron miles
  9. I dont think anyone ever really saw Reed as anything more than a platoon guy vs. lefties or a late inning defensive sub. there may not have been a lot on this board, there were a ton of stupid cubs fans wanting him to play against righties at several times during his cubs career. Reed Johnson had a lot of support from people I know to become an everyday player. During some of Kosuke's slumps, I recall some on the board wanting Reed to start everyday. and when soriano was hurt in 08, or sucking in 09, or right before edmonds signed in 08, or when bradley wasn't getting enough RBIs for cubs fans in 09, etc. the biggest culprit was dave kaplan. what a goon
  10. i just don't see how you could possibly say that huet this year has been better than regular season khabi last year. that's just flat out insane, i'm sorry.

  12. yeah, no. that's not true at all. you must only be looking at GAA average, which is a product of the rest of the team. 2009-2010 hawks save percentage- .906 (17th in NHL) 2008-2009 hawks save percentage- .911 (7th in NHL) the hawks main goalie last year (khabi) was legitimately good/great. huet is the primary goalie this year, and he has not been good. So is save percentage. There's no way to gauge the quality of chances. And, by the way, based on your metric, Khabi was terrible in the playoffs (.898 save percentage / 2.93 GAA). Huet has been good. This hate against him has become absolutely ridiculous. He's struggled at a couple points this year, but calling most every goal scored on him as soft when often he has almost no chance is, frankly, meatball-ish. What could Huet have done last night on those goals? i'm not blaming him for last night, but much of the criticism is deserved. and i'm not just going ton save percentage. saying that the goaltending has been better this year than last is ridiculous though. it's not even close to being true. and yes, there is a way top gauge the quality of chances. by watching the games. khabibulin was outstanding last year, and huet has not been very good. overall, the hawks have played amazing defense this season (though theyve leaked as of late) and they donbt give up a lot of good shots, yet huet's save percentage is .903 and below league average. he hasn't had to make many tough stops at all this season, and he's still stopping shots at a below average rate. as for khabibulin's playoff stats, im not sure why youre bringing them up. that's one of the main reasons the hawks flamed out against detroit (although they were just a better team anyways). so yeah, not sure what your point is with that. i never said khabi was good in the playoffs. btw, you should know that i was one of the biggest huet defenders all last season (to a point where i'd annoy people a lot with my defending him) when people were trashing him, so i'm not a meatball fan. i defended him hard last season. i didn't think he was worth the money, but i thought he was still an above average goalie. this yeah, i feel like he's taken a step back, and that's when i stopped defending him. so yeah, i'm not a meatball. there's a reason for my criticism, and it's because i feel he has not been a good goaltender this season. it has nothing to do with anything else.

  14. now people can finally stop wanting reed johnson to play against rhp
  15. sounds familiar
  16. phoenix will fall off too
  17. i don't think trying is accounted for in the mvp voting
  18. the top line really needs to pick it up. since the minnesota collapse, toews and kane are both minus 5, and the team is just 6-4-1 since then also, the hawks have now fallen to 3rd overall in the nhl for the best record behind washington and san jose. vancouver is also closing in and coming fast. they just came back from a 3 goal deficit and beat toronto for their 7th straight win. if they beat montreal on tuesday, they'll be just 6 points back of the hawks with the same number of games played.
  19. partially? yeah partially. No I don't really think they are likely to lose in the first round but now that the goaltending isn't holding up like it had in the past (and to a lesser extent the defense) the thought seems marginally more possible than it was. but you proclaimed that you couldnt envision them getting out of the first round, not that you just had concerns. whatever, i know you didnt mean it
  20. a 2 man advantage and we cant even hold the zone
  21. partially?
  22. well that's dumb Why? Top seeds fall in the first round all the time. All it takes is a Huet collapse or two and our backs are to the wall. How many games can we win when our goalie is giving up 3-4 goals every other game like Huet has been? i never said it's impossible for them to lose in the first round... but saying " i can't see them getting out of the first round with huet" is really ridiculous. you really think they'll lose in the first round?
  23. well that's dumb
  24. awful loss. you can't lose games to teams like this if you want the number one seed.
  25. and they give it right back on yet another defensive lapse. horrible.
