    everyone is pissed we are missing out on the top guys. that doesn't mean that they are punting the offseason.

    nobody is being aggressive. I said you sound like you need a break because you're being overly pessimistic about the cubs for no reason other than missing out on ohtani. the whole "we didn't get the top guy, so obviously we are doing nothing this offseason" just gets really tiring every year. they have a quality roster with lots of money to spend this offseason and a top farm system to work with. I'm on board with hating ownership as much as anyone, and I'm very annoyed that we keep whiffing on the elite, but the cubs are in a very good position going forward.

    by pretty much every indication, the cubs are going to the luxury tax or above it. which means they're adding a ton this offseason. we have every logical reason to believe this. you're just pouting.

    i don't get how this is even that different from other big free agents from past offseasons. we know the teams in on him, we have a general idea of what he's going to get, and it's only december 6th, so it's not like he's taking forever. it feels like every other big FA to me.

    i said besides soto. altuve and goldy are old, alonso and bregman are likely to re-sign with their current teams, and gleyber is not exactly exciting.

    i just looked at the hitters hitting FA next offseason (outside of soto), and it's not pretty. it would be great if jed could swing a big trade that we're not expecting.
