  1. bolland is a shorthanded legend
  2. Earlier you were criticizing the Red Sox for dragging this out, and yet you still say the Cubs should give up McNutt
  3. a couple of posts i thoroughly enjoyed from that sox board. first one is re: castro
  4. i have one question for Holldsworth's Mug aka cubsfans26- Why do you want Theo Epstein so much when virtually every baseball opinion you have goes against his way of thinking?
  5. get a real life, curtis painter
  6. there is going to be a nice selection of starting pitching in next year's free agency. Cole Hamels Matt Cain Zack Grienke Shaun Marcum John Danks as well as some decent back-of-the-rotation options.meanwhile, the cubs will have dempster, zambrano, and byrd coming off the books. an offense building around fielder/castro/jackson/soto and a rotation building around hamels/garza sounds pretty good (and extremely doable).
  7. cynosure, from blackhawks threads fame
  8. i can't believe this guy i've never heard of died
  9. he's 31 and he's going to cost more than 100 million yea no thanks
  10. ricketts needs to just stand his ground. no point on giving up anything of significant value. despite theo being under contract with boston, they still have zero leverage. with the entire shitstorm that has gone on in boston over the last couple weeks, there's no way they make it worse by holding theo hostage. he's ours and everyone knows it. cut the [expletive]
  11. this was the best thing i've ever seen. i think i actually love kaplan now. more of this please.
  12. Oh that's right, you are too young to be a part of the original NSBB photo thread. im pretty sure i've looked through that thread, but a lot of the photos were down and a lot of the people who posted in it were people who were before my time
  13. whats the pierre thing about? did law make that comparison?
  14. i want to see what umfan looks like. dont be shy.
  15. keith law is actually pretty good. and i think most people here would ultimately agree with what he said, considering how excited everyone is about theo. he's not saying they'll trade jackson (or that thew'll need to). he was asked if he would give up jackson for theo if he HAD to. i don't know how anyone could honestly say no to giving up jackson if it was the determining factor in whether or not theo comes here. theo is exciting enough to warrant a 67 page thread (before he's even signed), but we'd throw that away if it meant we'd lose jackson? c'mon
  16. When you brought up the '04 team, I looked for the Todd Walker superman slide, but couldn't find it. Anybody have it handy? Such an awesome moment. Followed by Chip Caray saying "The Cubs have come all the way back!!!!!!" even though they were only down 2-1 going into the inning. Also, remember when Macias tried to duplicate the Walker slide and failed miserably?
  17. nomar coming to the plate in his first AB with the cubs was such an epic moment. then he grounded into a double play on the first pitch, but nobody even cared. didn't he end up having the game winning hit or something on a line drive to left?
  18. i'm saving it for the press conference so i have visual stimulation
  19. For pure, raw excitement about a transaction? Garciaparra is the only comparable I can think of. Non-Cubs division, maybe Hossa. The excitement over Theo is, for me, second only to the day Bill Wirtz died. so morbid, yet somehow justified
  20. anybody know what the most popular yankees forum is?
