  1. call the game and we'll make it up when lackey is out of the rotation
  2. lackey and arrieta are too busy thinking about trucks
  3. i feel like we kind of glossed over the guy who is in this thread arguing with himself on 3 different accounts
  4. then I’ll watch KB bat against a Mets pitcher and be immediately sad again but then imagine if kb got to bat against our pitching
  5. if you feel bad about losing a top hitting prospect for 3.5 years of a very good pitcher, just watch some russell/soler/baez/almora at-bats
  6. i'd be completely shocked if they were ready to give up on schwarber
  7. ya like huey louis and the DUIs?
  8. People paid good money to come and see him tonight. the stars are truly out tonight
  9. any other 27 year old legends that we can try for?
  10. let me tell you folks, this guy is as impressive off the field as he is on it
  11. the amount of jock sniffing in these things is nauseating
  12. to be fair, zobrist has always looked janky and old
  13. bour looks exactly like buzz mcallister
  14. i'm having a hard time coping with the dodgers being this good. now that i've experienced the 2016 postseason, i'm less jealous of teams like the astros and dodgers dominating the regular season, because i know they still have to win like a million excruciatingly tense games over a month to make it matter
  15. i wonder if they would have penalized stanton for his constant cheating if he had advanced
  16. i seriously thought for a second that it was some random fan that they let dress up
  17. aaron judge looks like rami malek in the middle of a mutation
  18. i can never keep track of whether daniel norris is broken or not
  19. Not when that player is only under contract for a couple more months and can be used to immediately fill a hole in the rotation for the next 6 to 7 years. what?
  20. sometimes it actually is good to keep one of your best players
  21. i don't doubt that they would reeeeeallly like to avoid large contracts for relievers, but i think the pitching situation is in such peril that they almost don't have much of a choice. they went with the all hitter approach to building the team, which is great, but it also meant they'd likely be in this situation at some point. if you only develop hitting then you have to pay for pitching, and paying for real pitching comes with the risk. it would be nice if theo could keep pulling guys like jake and hendricks out of his ass, but you can't count on that. definitely not for 2018, at least. with arrieta and lackey on the way out, we already have a tough task of filling out the 2018 rotation to a point of acceptable confidence, and losing davis just makes it even more difficult.
  22. they play the same position, so carl will still be in carl's spot he traded big assets for short term control of 2 different relievers recently. if he values elite relievers that much, i'd think any unease from a longer term version would be outweighed by the abundance of current payroll flexibility and a desperate need for pitching in the organization. also, i'm sure theo knows that trading a valuable asset for a dominant relief rental each season is not a long-term strategy. We will see. I don't believe this front office believes in giving multi year, big money to a closer. It's why they traded for them instead. And, again, I think they are comfortable putting Carl there and spending less on the guys setting him up. that argument still makes no sense. you have 2 dominant relievers. if you let 1 go, you only have 1 dominant reliever. they're both allowed to pitch in the same game too
