  1. Nope. They still suck. Which is fine. It's just super weird that they are so close to us when we are spending $120 million more and also actually made big moves in July. That helped us make up 5.5 games of course, but it's still weird to us that it's this close in August. but the weirdness has nothing to do with the brewers
  2. You got fatigued talking about this because they squandered a 5.5 game lead already. No. I got fatigued by the whole, the Brewers don't suck, the Brewers suck thing. There is nothing left to say. They had a bad stretch that happened to come during our great stretch. It feels super fortunate that it happened. But it also seemed like people thought that was the end of them, rather than a bad stretch on the road. right before that they had a great stretch that happened to come during a bad cubs stretch. it feels super unfortunate that it happened. both the brewers and cubs have kind of sucked for the first 4 months. the optimism has always stemmed from the cubs clearly having a better team on paper and being projected to be better because of it
  3. I got fatigued talking about this, but people are just going to have to accept the fact that the Brewers aren't going away. It's probably going to come down to those seven games we play against them in September. it's not about them falling off, it's about the cubs playing to their potential and taking advantage of the soft schedule down the stretch. if the brewers continue playing at the same pace, the cubs should be able to pull away.
  4. my dentist's name is james spalding
  5. I thought so at the time. And it probably was. But Lester did a great job. That's his defining moment as a Cub. What a beast. I'll always love him for that. yeah but it was kind of a lou/zambrano/marmol thing. even if you get the best possible outcome with lester, you're still taking away at-bats from hendricks to give to a potentially gassed chapman. hendricks should have been given as much rope as possible to limit the amount you had to get out of chapman, but he went the complete opposite direction. i still kind of feel bad for kyle. he was having a potentially iconic start, and now he's barely mentioned when that game is talked about.
  6. i think most here disagree (and i understand the reasoning) but i still think taking out hendricks that early was awful
  7. [marq=left][/marq] god i just got anxiety thinking about that 9th inning and how bad it was. Every pitch looked like it was about to get crushed. https://streamable.com/g8wy https://streamable.com/nu4w https://streamable.com/3wiz the reactions of santana and kipnis are things i will cherish forever
  8. i live near st. pete and rays fans really hate him for some reason
  9. oh shut up, i expect the cubs to pull away at some point like we all do, that doesn't mean we can't point out that they've kind of sucked for 4 months. we constantly talk about how much the brewers and cardinals suck, but they've both performed at a level comparable to the cubs, sooo. i understand that bemoaning reality after losses is still annoying, but it's not like my post about them sucking again was heavy meatballery or anything You've said some heavy meatballery stuff throughout the season. yeah but it's usually a one-off based in reality. david and lots of other good posters do the same thing. if i start talking about bryant's performance in the clutch or DFAing edwards, feel free to call me out
  10. oh shut up, i expect the cubs to pull away at some point like we all do, that doesn't mean we can't point out that they've kind of sucked for 4 months. we constantly talk about how much the brewers and cardinals suck, but they've both performed at a level comparable to the cubs, sooo Big difference is that those teams do suck. And the Cubs played sucky. They had a rough week against two good teams. They've been much better since the break, after some guys got healthy and we made additions. You've been claiming this as a lost season since April, and, yet, still in first. You don't have to fly off the handle after every freaking loss. i mean, i wrote a single sentence complaining about how they're playing crappy again. how is that flying off the handle? i admire that you can write long paragraphs after every loss telling us why they don't matter, but it's kind of weird to act all shocked when somebody points out that they're still having a disappointing season
  11. Quit watching them if you hate them so much. oh shut up, i expect the cubs to pull away at some point like we all do, that doesn't mean we can't point out that they've kind of sucked for 4 months. we constantly talk about how much the brewers and cardinals suck, but they've both performed at a level comparable to the cubs, sooo. i understand that bemoaning reality after losses is still annoying, but it's not like my post about them sucking again was heavy meatballery or anything
  12. one day we'll be telling our kids about the glory days when the cubs were 6 games over .500 is a shite division
  13. i completely forgot about that, so now i'm watching the video. it's still so weird to see lee throw the punch out of nowhere. he must have had something else bothering him that day.
