  1. rondon just blew a big save opp against oakland
  2. bauer broke his leg
  3. i've always thought this was hilarious for some reason
  4. I don't expect you (or anyone really) to go back and check the old threads, but I just wanted to state this to refute the idea that he's a non-prospect and came out of nowhere. Scouts and prospect analysts noticed him and obviously Cubs' brass. He was added to the 40-man roster and would've been selected in the rule 5 draft most likely. I just hate the idea or notion this is some fluke and that he's "probably nothing". when i said he was a "non-prospect" i just meant he was older and never really made any lists. and "probably nothing" was relative to the hyperbole about how we have another great starter locked in or whatever. and the fact that was was talked about in the minor league forum doesn't really mean much, considering how little there is to talk about there right now. having said that, bote is fun and cool. i hope he does lots of good baseball things.
  5. Hopefully the Cards pull 2 of three from the brewers and we do the same from the Buccos i think i'd rather have the brewers win 2 of 3
  6. it's kind of worrying that the only remedy we've heard suggested so far is for him to not play baseball. i'd almost feel better if they just said he's going to have surgery in the offseason.
  7. this guy has some fame in diamond dynasty
  8. it's funny how he does the gary thorne part in english
  9. gleyber still has the homers pumping his numbers up, but he's been awful for a while
  10. If you sign Harper (or Machado), you can trade some combination of cost controlled cheaper position players (Almora, Bote, Happ, Russell, etc.) for pitching. The pitching free agency market is both expensive and injury prone so I think you're better off spending your funds on the more safe position players and trying to acquire cheaper pitching. yeah, i didn't mean free agency pitching. the optimal plan would be sign harper/machado and then use some of almora/scwharber/happ/russell for a good starter. i just don't like the plan mentioned above of keeping the current rotation (with hamels). hendricks/darvish/lester/q are pretty much locked in. getting a starter shouldn't conflict with getting harper, i just think it's the #1 priority, even if it means eating money on heyward/chatwood or taking on another bad contract.
  11. lol there he is I'm sorry that you keep making dumb statements that are easily refutable. your post doesn't even make sense. they've gotten a combined 2.4 fwar out of their best position player and best starting pitcher, but that hasn't affected them? and yeah, with the state of the rotation, i'm comfortable saying this is a pretty mediocre team with all darvish/bryant/morrow out. we were projected for like 93 wins before the season and those guys were projected for 10+. whenever the cubs lose you get off on people complaining, even though there's more than enough to complain about right now. i'm not getting caught up in it this time.
  12. without bryant and darvish, they're just a pretty mediocre team.
  13. the reality is that he's not terrible relative to other managers, he's just disappointingly close to them. i don't want him gone or anything, he just annoys me way more often than i thought he would.
  14. i want harper and everything, but i think the rotation has to be the priority. i'm not cool with starting 2019 with the current rotation at all.
  15. this season has had so many classic regular season games
  16. the rockies pbp guy is so awful that i could barely enjoy the dodgers blowing that game so spectacularly
  17. now THIS is how you optimism
  18. actually the rotation is good

  20. how many wins does the team we're currently fielding (meaning no darvish, bryant, or morrow) win in a full season? Like 85?
