yeah we all know they're likely to be good and they have a good roster and stuff, but at this point the constant assumption that they'll go on some big run just because it's worked out that way in the past feels like false confidence in the way it's talked about. we all know that what you said is likely to be true, yet it feels lie you're trying to convince yourself of it as much as you're trying to convince me. Not really. The Cubs could end up falling short at the end of the day. But because they’ve been a really really good baseball team for the last 3+ years they deserve the benefit of the doubt. No one needs to freak out before Memorial Day because they are 4.5 games out of first (and only 2 in the loss column) much less 1 game out of a playoff spot. saying anything other than "the cubs will obviously win 90+ games and the brewers are 100% trash" is seen as freaking out. the "it's only _____" thing just becomes annoying at a certain point, because it has a way of always being pushed back. plus, injuries happen, and we might be seeing with darvish. they need to be winning games and not assuming they'll come later, because it not happening would be far from the weirdest thing to happen in baseball this year.
