  1. david became duke
  2. Dafuq is that? Edited because I didn't see there was half a page of blowback already vented. how the eff are you guys thinking my comment was serious
  3. Only damning if you consider it true. Which it isn't. what
  4. 9 to nothing. it's simple math.
  5. i love baez but this is pretty damning [tweet] [/tweet]
  6. He didn't miss significant time in either 2015 or 2016, it's not like he's never been able to stay healthy for a whole season. There's no reason to expect he's going to miss 6 weeks every season for the next few years unless you think he's just chronically broken now at age 24. it's about nagging injuries affecting his performance as much as it's about missing games.
  7. moving the goalposts I didn't move any goalposts. I've been saying all along that Russell should be one of the names considered when making a trade and multiple posters insisted that he was too valuable defensively to trade and that he was still too young and talented. you said people jumped all over you for suggesting to trade russell, and you still haven't shown evidence of this. lots of people were open to trading russell last offseason. like I said, if people got on your case, it must have been for other reasons.
  8. i wanna see the receipts edit: i found it. you wanted to trade russell for iglesias, with your reasoning being that he was more expendable with baez on the team, and it would open up 2b for happ. people gave you a hard time because they didn't like russell for iglesias, and your logic for wanting to move him was flawed. people were open to trading russell. I don't think that was the only discussion that I was involved with concerning trading ML assets, but I sure wish we would have made that trade. moving the goalposts
  9. if posters jumped on you for suggesting these trades, it must have been for your suggested returns Actually I don't think there were any suggested returns. It was a discussion about trading off our ML roster because the ml are pretty bare and posters were suggesting Happ and/or Almora and I posted that Russell and Schwarber ould be included because their "names" might get us a better return and we could have in house replacements. i wanna see the receipts edit: i found it. you wanted to trade russell for iglesias, with your reasoning being that he was more expendable with baez on the team, and it would open up 2b for happ. people gave you a hard time because they didn't like russell for iglesias, and your logic for wanting to move him was flawed. people were open to trading russell.
  10. joe is incapable of using a basic lineup structure with your best hitters up top with the on base guys in front of the power guys. like, you'd think he'd at least do it every once in a while.
  11. I was stupid and didn't want them to trade him last offseason because I figured 2017 was just an off year and he'd after more value after he rebounded. This time next year, he'll be Chris Giminez on offense and will have also developed gout or syphilis or something and will suck on defense. You weren't the only one. Posters jumped all over me when I suggested that he should be traded while he still had a decent reputation. My other suggestion was that we should have traded Schwarber when he was the second coming of Babe Ruth. Now that he's a platoon LF/DH, his value has dropped too. if posters jumped on you for suggesting these trades, it must have been for your suggested returns
  12. i really hope lester doesn't talk a lot after he retires, because he's such a legendary cub
  13. that would mean he's been unhealthy for 2 years in a row, which wouldn't fill me with confidence either
  14. i've noticed that old people flippin love almora
  15. sometimes it's okay to not respond when you don't have a real point Monty is pitching well this year, he’s gotten big outs out of the bullpen before, he’s added a new pitch, he’s seen velo upticks out of the pen when he’s done it, he can go multiple innings, he’s a plenty fine leverage relief pitcher in the playoffs. Sometimes it’s okay not to post when all it is, is doom bonering and making back handed remarks about what others have said in the past. oh brother. we all hoped that they'd be able to minimize the crappy rotation by using the horsefeathers out of our really good relievers in the postseason. the bullpen is now in a completely different than it was before, due to injuries and general ineffectiveness. saying "we can put montgomery there!" is a far cry from the original logic, and you know it. if you're really desperate to take issue with the point, then you should just talk about how the rotation is in better shape now than it was then.
  16. nothing says shutdown reliever like mike montgomery Right, haven’t ever seen him shut a thing down in his life sometimes it's okay to not respond when you don't have a real point
  17. Monty will be in there and Strop could be back in 2 weeks. So still could nothing says shutdown reliever like mike montgomery
  18. aree we still going to bullpen the horsefeathers out of the playoffs
  19. I seriously cant believe that happened
  20. the only chance the cubs had at losing the division was to completely and totally blow the offseason while the brewers had an amazing one, and that's exactly what happened.
  21. If they're going to blow the division, just do it quickly.so I can at least try to talk myself into being happy with the wc spot in a couple weeks
  22. we just dont have nearly as many good players as we did a couple years ago. almora/happ/russell all completely collapsed, schwarber and Willson have been mediocre for a long time, kb is broken, the choices we've made in the roatation have been disastrous, and lester/Hendricks have regressed. there is going to be a lot of pressure on theo this offseason to stop the bleeding.
