  1. they'll make the playoffs with decent goaltending
  2. It's almost like run differential is a nearly meaningless stat. i mean, outscoring your opponent is the way you win. they deserve credit for winning the close games, especially when hader is a big part of it, but the point is that you don't put up a winning record while getting outscored without a good amount of fortune. it's like people got so sick of the RD differential talk (i did too) that they're going too far the other way and acting like runs scored/allowed is irrelevant or something. they deserve credit, but they've had a charmed season with a weak roster. if they don't win the world series, i doubt brewers fans are going to be optimistic about the future based their ability to win nearly every close game. then again, baseball fans are dumb.
  3. it's weird because as disastrous as this season was, i actually feel better about the cubs going forward than i did last offseason. a lot of the most important players with question marks bounced back this season. contreras, bryant, rizzo, darvish, and schwarber all had years that signficantly boosted the outlooks of their futures. they are all a year older and all have a year less control, but i am waaaaayyyyyy more optimistic of that group (and their current trade value) than i was 6 months ago. the core is dysfunctional as hell and needs to be broken up or changed around, but the talent and value players is still there. if i had faith in theo (i don't know if i do), i'd be confident that we have enough talent and resources to go back to winning 90+ games just by switching things around.
  4. i like ross because he talks like a nice homeless person
  5. it's so funny how we all knew kimbrel would immediately become the newest albatross, and he completely fulfilled those expectations.
  6. everyone in the organization sould be embarrassed just like last year
  7. 3 and he physically starts mailing it in, rather than just mentally He sure will be the fall guy but there is blame for this mess at all levels. Ricketts and Theo are responsible for allowing the Brewers and Cardinals to narrow the gap Maddon and the players are responsible for allowing the Brewers and Cardinals to pass them
  8. haha after the game maddon said their focus was still on the cardinals. you'd think at some point he would pay attention to the fact that the brewers blew by them again.
  9. the thing that gets me is that it lets brewers fans think they were right about them being good, even though they weren't. that team sucks ass and they're winning games for no real reasons. now we have to spend the whole offseason knowing we'll have a superior roster to them again next year, but they finished ahead of us twice in a row now, so they have these stupid unearned bragging rights. but really the problem here is that i care about another sports team's fanbase. If it helps, they were right about the Cubs spending money poorly and running into a wall. but the cubs should still be winning 90 games this season even with those screw ups. and also their contention was never with the players the cubs were choosing to sign. they just thought that the cubs spending money at all meant their window would close sooner, even if they weren't bad signings. their argument never made sense.
  10. Going in to today, the RD implied we’ve played 5 wins under where we should be and the Brewers 9 games over where they should be (A FOURTEEN GAME SWING). It’s horsefeathering unreal. the thing that gets me is that it lets brewers fans think they were right about them being good, even though they weren't. that team sucks ass and they're winning games for no real reasons. now we have to spend the whole offseason knowing we'll have a superior roster to them again next year, but they finished ahead of us twice in a row now, so they have these stupid unearned bragging rights. but really the problem here is that i care about another sports team's fanbase.
  11. seeing the brewers -21 in the standings right next to the cubs +114 might be the most infuriating thing i've ever experienced in sports
  12. Hey, TWO division rivals are doing it to them this time! 2 is more than 1, and all for basically the same payroll! Progress, baby! the cardinals are whatever. they're at least a decent team. the brewers are legitimately bad. yeah theo is a mess lately, but it's insane that the cubs roster allowed this brewers team to pass them this year. they should not be relevant to the cubs, let alone in front of them. and it happened the same way! they cubs had them dead going into those last 2 series, and failed both times. again.
  13. i seriously can't believe they're letting the brewers do this to them again
  14. so glad we saved hendricks for that instead of using him against the team that was chasing us down (again)
  15. behind the scenes footage of theo and jed trying to figure this out
  16. the point is that they will have blown it to the brewers without yelich. baez/rizzo is a bigger combined loss, but I dont want to hear about injuries if the brewers come back on us again without their superhuman player. Well you’re going to hear it because it is partially the reason for falling short. Javy missed the final 6 vs the Brewers (we won 1 of them and they had Yelich for all them). Now no Rizzo too. The injuries I mentioned to all above are a factor, they aren’t the main factor but it’s going to be rightfully brought up. i'm not saying it didn't play a role. i'm saying I dont want it brought up by the organization as an excuse when a)the brewers lost their mvp and b)the cubs should have put the brewers away long before September. we got lucky in the sense that it's going to take less than 90 wins to get a wild card spot this season, and they fugged it up long before the injuries.
  17. That will definitely be brought up, probably by everyone. The injuries to Hamels, Baez, Rizzo, Bryant, Willy and Kimbrel certainly played a big role in likely falling 2-5 games short here. It’s hard to argue they didn’t, I also think turnover is coming and Theo knows he has to do better. the point is that they will have blown it to the brewers without yelich. baez/rizzo is a bigger combined loss, but I dont want to hear about injuries if the brewers come back on us again without their superhuman player.
  18. in a couple of weeks, which of theo/ptr will be the first one to point out that they were in a playoff spot before baez and rizzo got hurt?
  19. every single person in the stadium knew the cubs were going to lose
