blowing the division to a covid team is the perfect follow up to blowing the wild card to the brewers without yelich last year. the post-ws series cubs are all about finding new interesting ways to fail

The Brewers suck, them handing the Reds some losses this week puts us in a spot to really widen the gap this weekend over the Reds and really not worry about them again. Lol Seriously you guys have been pushing this bs since 2017. And even if they are not as good as their record indicates, we look like total horsefeathers against their pitching (so chalk up several more Ws for them from that alone) and their pen locks down 1 run wins consistently. They are going to be a top 3 team in the division, not the Reds IMO. the cubs and brewers only play 3 more times. they were just helping yu win the cy young

every decent team is making the playoffs and you don't even get a bye for winning the division. so if you're hopeful in the cubs chances at winning a "world series" this year, getting him back for the postseason is all that really matters.

I mean it didnt have anything to do with the brewers specifically, it was because we would get into fights in every game threads. people (like me) would complain about the games and he would overcompensate by developing the shtick. Then the cubs actually did lose and he said horsefeathers it and left. Idk why people are acting like this didnt happen. I believe his legit reasons for leaving but I think he also got sick of the back and forth of the complaining to complain and no real substance to back the complaints when he was giving real reason and stats. But whatever I think he’s largely gone for good for whatever reasons. everyone always agreed the cubs were better, it was never about that. it was about his unwillingness to admit they were vulnerable and that bad stuff could happen to them.

I guess you dont remember the game threads from 2018 not being a completely insane spaz about individual baseball games isn't a gimmick i admit I'm a game thread spaz but that wasnt it at all. imb isnt a game thread spaz but he probably remembers what I'm talking about. I just think its funny to suggest that he left because of morals when that's not at all what happened. he quit after 2018 because he dug into his "cubs are gods and the brewers cant possibly beat us" shtick too hard and then didnt want to deal with it after they lost. like I fully admit my part and being a child, but he left because he was mad about the brewers stuff, it was obvious. It's not even neccesarily an insult, he had plenty of reason to be annoyed.

this is not what happened. he disappeared after they blew the division to the brewers in 2018 and then briefly came back when it looked like the cubs were good again early last season. his personality was always tied to the cubs winning. i know he was plenty appalled at the off-field stuff (all of us here are), but he didn't stop following the cubs because of it. tree, on the other hand, appears to have legitimately quit the cubs after the russell stuff. i remember he said something about us all being complicit if we continued following the cubs after that, and then he basically bolted. he's better than us for it. Duke very clearly stated the reasons he was paying less and less attention to the Cubs. It was very obviously related to the racist trump supporting owners and russell situation. There’s a lot of names I’d put in the box “personality tied to Cubs winning” before him. he stated it like we've all stated it, but it's not the reason his online presence disappeared. he was just as high on the cubs in early 2019 as he ever was, and that was well after the ownership and russell stuff had been established. he quit nsbb in particular right after the cubs blew the division to the brewers in 2018. it wasnt about ownership. his gimmick only worked when the cubs were dominant. look at his twitter over the first 2 months of last season before the cubs started turning bad again. that's a hardcore cubs fan.
