  1. No way! I thought you needed to play like four months in the bigs!
  2. It really pisses me off when Stephen A. Smith talks.
  3. Because of course baseball didn't matter until 1983. we get it, you like ty cobb. Funny, considering that nobody else liked him when he played
  4. My team is Marquette, we made first round exits each of the last two years and look to do the same again. Our three core guards are really talented but they can't shoot, and we have no post presence. We look an awful lot like the Bulls.
  5. He's a Cali boy. Don't know if he still lives in Sacramento though. So given his daughter's unfortunate medical condition and likely a general desire to be around the family more back "home," it likely wouldn't be too difficult to trade him to a west coast team. I would just hate to shop him and then end up keeping him. It would suck to ask him to waive that no-trade clause, too
  6. This was my thought process as well
  7. I picked Upton. Sorry if I left out anyone too important - my knowledge of other teams' prospects is a bit limited. I put Hamilton on there though i don't whether he still has rookie status.
  8. ](*,) Why don't they have a crying smiley? #-o
  9. What is the fetish with LH hitting? The Cubs desperately need players who can get on base. They desperately need a difference maker. It does not particularly matter what side of the plate he hits from. Someone please explain to me the need for a lefthanded power bat. Is it baseball conventional wisdom? Is it a ture need? I'm I going crazy? Nope. We all feel like we are taking crazy pills. And should therefore probably steer clear of the Cubs
  10. Yes he can. What bigger trade can the Cubs make without making them worse? If they trade Lee, Aramis, Z, or Hill at best they can hope to get the same level of potential production. None of the prospects are all that attractive, except for Pie (who doesn't love Pie?). They don't have a whole lot to bargin with. Who are they going to get with DeRosa + prospects? Marmol + prospects? DeRosaa + Marmol + prospects? Why does Fukudome need a caddy? Exactly. Hendry very well could prove us all wrong with some stunning deal, but what's the likelihood? If you do end up giving up DeRosa in a bigger deal, you've downgraded 2b significantly in doing so. What exactly makes DeRosa such a hot commodity to other teams? He's not exactly cheap for the production he provides. He's not head and shoulders better than other 2b's that could potentially be available. He'd do alright manning third base in Florida for a year or two. He would be a step up from Aaron Boone. But, the packages that LA will be offering (especially now that ARod is off the market) surely could beat what the Cubs can offer. I'd be shocked if the Cubs got Miggy over the Angels or Dodgers due to their farms. I'm hoping that the Fish are in love with a couple of Cub prospects, mainly Pie since they might need a young CF. What about Reggie Abercrombie?
  11. He gets a pass on that because they are obviously kindred spirits.
  12. Now if only Kaz could put up a 29.3 VORP like Okajima. Good lord
  13. While I agree with most of what has been written by other posters, I'm convince that DLee will retire as a Cub, mostly because he is such a high-character guy. All together possible and it seems like he is an outstanding person from what I've heard and read. But, it is a business and you can't fall in love with a player either and if you get a chance to improve the team, you have to do it. If you want a bunch of nice guys you will have another 100 years of not winning. Agreed 100% but I can say with certainty that if we dealt Lee I would miss him more than any other Cub I can remember.
  14. I can't ignore the rebound he made in the power department in the second half. 16 hrs for a pace of 39, IIRC. In the first half, he was sluggish from the wrist injury and he lost some confidence, IMO. My biggest problem is the dropoff at defense at first base, mainly with his range, and it's not that big a problem as long as he can continue to scoop throws in the dirt with the best of em. I wouldn't take Loney straight up for D-Lee, but I'd trade him and others for any package that included Loney + Kemp/Billingsley/Kershaw/etc. He is certainly not untouchable for me.
  15. They voted before the WS and the last 7 games of that winning streak.
  16. Have you ever heard of a team doing or considering this? Not being sarcastic, I'm just curious.
  17. Um, no they don't. I am not surprised that Ohio State and Michigan is at the top, even though it isn't the correct answer. Up until about ten years ago the biggest rivalry for OU was easily Nebraska. I'd rank them: 1. Texas - Texas A&M 2. Army - Navy 3. Yale - Harvard 4. Auburn - Alabama 5. Michigan - Ohio State 6. Grambling - Southern 7. Oxbridge 8. Florida - Florida State 9. UCLA - USC 10. Florida - Georgia There is no correct answer. It actually only asks for an opinion. As for yours, the border war needs to be much higher, and Miami - FSU>>>>>>>>UF - FSU That game really doesn't have much at all since Spurrier left. Miami and FSU both suck right now, but the history is better.
  18. Meh. The only thing I learned was what made a circle change different from a straight change.
  19. Or get more grounders - 1.59 GO-AO at high-A isn't that great for a groundball pitcher. Didn't know he was necessarily a groundball pitcher. What kind of sink does he got on that fb? Or, does he rely on a slider for groundballs?
