  1. The real question is, why hasn't Billy Beane done this already? there has to be something we don't know about
  2. I miss watching Reynolds and Kruk argue both sides of a completely asinine issue. http://www.firejoemorgan.com/2006/04/i-cant-believe-what-im-watching.html That is precisely the argument I was thinking of. Thanks, Truffle!
  3. well this is a little ironic. Don't ya think?
  4. I picked cinco de mayo because it was the closest to my actual birthday, the fourth. Although it did suck this year being that it was the weekend before finals and all. Last year was awesome because I was in France and no one gave a damn about finals week.
  5. No. FJM posted a broadcast he did where he was apparently surprised that, on average, more runs scored in an inning resulting from a leadoff walk than a leadoff HR. He claimed this was "unconventional wisdom" I think it was the other way around. He had the whole 'revolving door' idea in his head regarding people getting on base and was surprised to hear that a leadoff homer led to more runs. You're right, thats what I meant. I got confused in my wording about what he believed versus what was actually the truth. The basic idea is the idiotic notion that a homerun kills a rally while a walk ignites it

  7. it's as if he's a former pitcher who used to throw in the high 90's This. What should surprise you is his hitting, NOT his arm
  8. That may table the sample size debate once and for all. Beyond awesome!
  9. Yeah, but right now they need someone to give them some solid innings and what if Gallagher imoresses them enought to replace Lieber or Marquis? Woah, it took me too long to figure out what that meant. And short of breaking Orel's scoreless innings streak, I don't think anything Gallagher does impresses enough because he had a bad 11 innings or so last year and Lou is a raving lunatic.
  10. I think this thread has become superfluous since we call Lou an idiot in pretty much every thread now
  11. Please spare us your common sense and rationale; this is Lou we're talking about
  12. That's awesome! Lou, a little bit of Dusy, a Little bit of Ned, and a whole bunch of over-managing. Cub fever, catch it! I did, and I just threw it back out the aforementioned window
  13. So you've already written Hill off this year? Yikes And about Wood - I absolutely refuse to even consider Wood as a starting option again. If he got hurt again, I would be crushed
  14. God am I glad I didn't get this game on tv today
  15. Thank you! NOW I can study for my exam
  16. Exactly. I think if Ryan Theriot hit like .350 over 5 months people here would still he sucks. I mean he must be doing something right he is the starting shortstop on probably the best team in the NL Central. The best team in a bad division isn't impressive, and all that does is tell you how good the rest of the lineup is if they are still the best despite having Theriot playing every day. I hate having a guy hitting .322 in my line up good call Ok I lied, I'm going to say something. How long do you expect him to keep this up? Be honest. He has been doing if for a month now. next month when he is still hitting over .300 what are you going to say? He can never be good enough for you I can tell that already. I'll eat crow out the crack of Theriot's ass if he keeps this up through the ASB
  17. If Lou manages to combine the Dustiness of late with some Yostiness, I might jump out the window
  18. I'm going to take your advice...it isn't worth it. Besides, in your last post, you were arguing with yourself. Glad I tapped outta this one early. Just thought I'd let you all know I'm smarter than you :D
  19. Nice outfield. But no, I still probably wouldn't
  20. Can't disagree, but I'd rather see him get a few days of rest during the Break.... Agreed. Considering the load he's catching right now... I'm real worried about his performance at the end of the season. I hope Lou wises up and rests him a bit more often. when we get to road interleague games, i wouldn't mind seeing blanco do a lot of the catching while soto is the DH. that'd keep him in the lineup while not having to catch 9 innings.
  21. Man that curve ate Soriano's lunch and crapped on his head
