  1. I've read this post twice and my first suspicions were correct; literally everything you said here is wrong Actually, its not but thanks for taking the time to contribute absolutely nothing to a thread. Hang on
  2. I'd be curious to see how/if that could work out for the Cubs. On the one hand you lose the tourist/visiting fan factor. On the other hand you gain a huge suburban market of people who don't want to trek downtown. On the other hand, as soon as you start getting out of the city you start finding more and more fans of neither the White Sox or the Cubs. I'd be more curious to see what it would do to the neighborhood. I imagine it would go to hell, but it could also become more edgy/less douchey like a Bucktown or Lincoln Square maybe. But it would probably go to hell
  3. If he ends up playing the majority of games in LF for an AL team... I will laugh
  4. I think I'm more fed up with capitalism than I am with politics. And when the two coincide, as they so often do... BARF
  5. I don't see Auburn getting into legal trouble over this. They'll be in trouble if/when they lose Cam, but they appear to have kept their noses clean on this.
  6. Or they should kill themselves, because he's about the bright spot on the big-league team for the near future
  7. You can almost say they "Ryan Field'd" Wrigley. Northwestern will feel right at home. What, are 40,000 Iowa fans going to be there? Awesome
  8. Nope. There is a chance Castro can do with the bat at SS what Upton does (minus HR power) while poorly fielding RF.
  9. Oh man, that would be great if they sold low on Upton. I'd start the talks with BJax and 2 second tier prospects and cap it at Jackson and Archer/McNutt
  10. 7pm on ABC And from what I've heard, Herbie & Mushmouth will be calling our game. I think it's being pre-empted in Chicago for some old episodes of It's Like...You Know hahahaha
  11. If Tampa and Oakland can do what they did, there is no reason Pittsburgh can't. At least they have a built in fan base where if they do have any success, the reaction will be strong. They would not struggle to sell playoff tickets. It also helps that they are in the same division as the Cubs instead of the Yankees and Red Sox. The reason Pittsburgh couldn't do it before was because of a totally inept front office. That's not the case anymore, and I could see them start to compete in a couple years
  12. It's really gross-looking. They went overboard
  13. More than Nebraska/Texas A&M? absoeffinglutely Ha ha. No one in the south gives a [expletive] about Iowa-Ohio State. Hell, no one seems to care anything about the Big Ten in the south. Man, that's a relief, because I don't give a [expletive] about anyone in the south either
  14. I thought Hurdle was pretty bad. Like, more in common with Charlie Manuel than anyone else
  15. Reading DePo's wiki page is pretty frustrating. I didn't know just how much Plaschke sucked until now
  16. He might, but there's a lot on anecdotal evidence to the contrary. By all accounts, his teammates hated him his whole career
  17. I've read this post twice and my first suspicions were correct; literally everything you said here is wrong
  18. I got this far and figured you were being sarcastic
  19. In related news, Beertown to spent night banging head against wall
  20. The real reason it's there is because Brent and Kirk will be doing the Ohio State/Iowa game. And why are they calling that game? Biggest draw of a disney broadcasted game this weekend? More than Nebraska/Texas A&M? absoeffinglutely
  21. They might in the top-half of Chicago-area Big Ten fans. Maybe. For football. I think there are more OSU fans in the city than Northwestern fans. Not to mention Michigan, State, Illinois and Iowa That's my point. There's way too many Big Ten alums in Chicago for anyone to claim that it is "their" city. I know
  22. They might in the top-half of Chicago-area Big Ten fans. Maybe. For football. I think there are more OSU fans in the city than Northwestern fans. Not to mention Michigan, State, Illinois and Iowa
  23. Seriously. Why don't they paint the scoreboard, too
  24. I agree. We know that great players come from the dominican republic all the time. We think asia may have that same potential but no one has developed a star player who wasnt already a professional there. The point is quit messing around and pay for players we know that can be good not that we hope are good. Why we arent continually signing top latin american prospects is beyond me. Latin America is a sesspool of corruption and misinformation. I think MLB is doing their best to clean up things, but right now I'd rather the Cubs not get deeply involved financially and spend high dollars elsewhere. I especially love the practice of "hiding" players. I'm happy to attempt to tap into a new market, as well.
  25. This is why you and Jersey aren't going to see eye to eye
