  1. Seems fine on my weather app (sitting in the loop currently). Miserable conditions but dry for a while.
  2. It is a little annoying that the Brewers, who per FG have four starters, the second of which has made one start and the third of third got acquired like yesterday, are somehow still above .500. Also, as a small quality of life request, can we set something up to get the next game threads up a little sooner? Feel like people (or maybe just me) are hesitant to throw random thoughts in the game thread once the game is over, but don't really have the right spot to throw out stupid thoughts like the above when there's no thread for the next game. Feel like last year Brock had it running where it just auto generated at like 7 AM.
  3. No walks tonight means that we're 'only' at 3 walks in 6 innings since his first outing (1 IP, 3 BBs). Obviously not great but the bigger problem becomes the 2 strikeouts in 7 innings. He's getting BABIPed a little bit, but that's going to happen as a GB pitcher and you're going to inevitably get yourself into trouble if they're putting it in play almost every single time they come to the plate. I'm not going to just conclude that became the most hittable pitcher in baseball over one offseason, but needs to figure out how to get some swings and misses. On an unrelated note, this offense is a force right now.
  4. 6 innings, 3 runs, 1.00 WHIP is just fine against a solid lineup. Let’s get a couple more and take the pressure off the pen.
  5. Good catch, all the talk of making a trade with the Tigers got this confused in my head. I think the better way to spell that out is like, what are you hoping for out of a rule 5 pick like him that he hasn't given you? You obviously discount spring training results to some extent (see Tucker), but that's 50 PAs of excellent performance. Selecting him in the first place and giving him all those reps to dump him after 7 PAs makes you wonder what the whole point was in the first place.
  6. They went through the whole process of making the trade and then gave him the most PAs in spring training (in which he performed very well) to dump him after 7 PAs? It's arguably hard to stash a rule 5 guy all season, so far it's been pretty easy as Workman has gotten basically a PA every other game. Brujan stuck around because Hoerner was coming back from an injury and you can never rule out another injury to the rest of our middle infield options. Basically Lance Lynn but MIF. But now he's healthy and there's nowhere to put him that upgrades our team, so, you're welcome for the rehab, hope you catch on elsewhere. The difference between 2025 Gage Workman and Vidal Brujan is immaterial, and there are a lot of of Vidal Brujan's out there in case you, for some reason, need one. If Gage needs to go for the reasons outlined above by Bertz, fine, sure. But for the dude with the career 50 wRC?
  7. Yeah Brujan sucks in a very clear and obvious way. Workman might suck too but going through this whole process to dump him after 7 PAs to swap up your 26th man slot seems like a huge waste of time.
  8. Light flurries all day, both in the loop and in the western suburbs. Probably won’t be noticeable or cause any sort of delay tonight. hoping the weather and the wind gives Steele a nice boost of confidence.
  9. Yes, I would look beyond a six inning sample size when making pitching decisions.
  10. This has big 'if he's a good hitter, why doesn't he hit good' energy. reference:
  11. Luke Little 25 walks in less than 33 professional innings last year, so not totally sure why he's the hot name around here to solve our 'let's walk every lead off hitter' problems.
  12. Guys Ryan Pressly hasn't had minor league options in like 5 years.
  13. Yeah I finally went back and found it after meaning to make this comment for a few days, but on 4/5/24 the Dodgers were in town and the Cubs chased then-top-prospect Bobby Miller in a 5 run second inning by just grinding him out (HR/walk/single/single/FO/walk/double) and I remember thinking that the team could be special because there just weren't any weak spots. Of course I was thinking that about a lineup that had Morel, Madrigal, and Gomes in the lineup, and also thinking Bobby Miller was good. Which is all to say....baseball seasons are so long.
  14. Vince Vaughn lookalike sitting next to an Eddie vedder lookalike in the front row?
  15. Is this your first time watching any sort of competitive sports
  16. yeah for sure. was more referring to the overuse concept than the effectiveness part of it, which is very TBD
  17. Pressly is about to Cishek himself by throwing 50 pitches every outing
  18. The guy with the 3.10 FIP last year? Yeah, probably.
  19. Hodge against the top of the order again. Not enough sample size to say that's specifically the plan (vs him just being the 8th inning guy), but like how it's working out thus far. Side note: Tatis is so cool. Edit: Mostly ignore this, looked and saw Tatis up with 2 outs and figured he was batting third, forgot he's their lead off guy. Leaning more to Hodge just being the 8th inning guy at this point.
  20. Feel like he would have had a much better shot at Turner at first there.
  21. Bogaerts didn't hit the ball that PCA caught quite as hard, but going to the gap instead of dead center probably makes them about as likely to get out of here on a normal day, so we can probably cancel those out. The rest runs more unlucky to the Cubs, as shown by the 41 point xBA advantage.
