  1. Wow. Just wow. That's just pathetic. This. Yeah, we know Cedeno's better. Theriot is a completely above average utility/backup player. It's obviously his fault that Lou starts him over Cedeno. But hey, go ahead and wish serious injury on him for that.
  2. He got knocked down by Rickie Weeks and hasn't hit well. He had 3 PAs. A walk, a sac fly, and a K. Bench him for a week. Or maybe Lou wanted Hart to go more than one inning. I know they treat Pie like crap, but between him, Soto, or DeRosa, Pie was clearly the best answer.
  3. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3372794 Say what you will about the Soriano deal, but at least we're not stuck with this contract...
  4. I wonder what Soriano and Pie would have done with those throws
  5. Didn't really want to start a new topic, as this is still a pretty stupid offer, but wanted to see if you guys had any input or whatever... 10 team mixed league, H2H weekly, 6x6 (basics plus OPS, quality starts), all offensive positions + utility, 4 SP, 2 RP, 1 P, 3 total bench spots, and a DL spot. C-Brian McCann 1B-Todd Helton 2B-Brian Roberts SS-Jose Reyes 3B-Evan Longoria OF-Grady Sizemore OF-Nick Swisher OF-Jeremy Hermida Util-Soto Bench-Ellsbury, Zimmerman SP-Webb, Hamels, Jered Weaver, Marcum RP-Sherill, Francisco Cordero P-BJ Ryan Bench-Lackey DL-Kazmir The trade offer I'm getting is Ellsbury+Hamels for Joe Nathan+Bobby Abreu. Obviously not the best trade to make, but apparently everyone got tired of me picking up a new starting pitcher every day, and the new rule is 6 starts per week. Which means in about 3 weeks, when Lackey and Kazmir come off the DL, I'll have 7 starting pitchers able to make 6 starts total for the week. Clearly I need to get rid of starting pitchers. Do I even consider that trade? Which positions should I look to upgrade with my surplus of starting pitchers, and which starters should I be more willing to give up than others? Any opinions would be appreciated, thanks...
  6. I don't like being Fukudomeless, but...MURTON!!!! I'm really confused how Murton goes from riding the bench behind DeRosa/Cedeno (more or less), and then a last minute injury comes up and Lou bats him in front of both of them. Not complaining, but still...I figure it's got to say something about how little Lou thinks of Murton's defense?
  7. In other action, Kyle Lohse, who currently owns a 0.74 ERA on the season, is throwing a 3 H/0 BB game through 7 against the Brewers, and leads 3-0. I'm not going to lie, I kinda like seeing Cards and White Sox fans get their hopes up.
  8. You know, if I wasn't watching the game, I would just assume that meant a groundout to the catcher... PS This is fun...
  9. And the Reds announcers response to this inning... "Hard to believe that the Cubs have played here at Wrigley Field for 94 years and have NEVER WON a World Series. This is the 100th anniversary of their last championship. ...And there's a single from Zambrano"
  10. Regardless of how incredibly insane this decision is, I just feel really bad for Murton. We are just wasting his prime years...he's done absolutely everything asked for him, and I haven't heard him publicly complain much at all no matter how much we jerked him around. And now he, as clearly the most MLB ready minor leaguer we have, gets looked over for a call up when our left fielder goes down. I just hope he keeps his head up, and at this point I just hope someone gives him a shot, Cubs or elsewhere.
  11. Red's announcers, when Dusty comes out- "It is gotten ugly here, almost beyond belief. Ever since game 6 back in 2003, this place has become filled with venom." =D> =D> =D>
  12. This should be fun.....*Takes ball, sets it up on a tee*
  13. Yeah, I have that vision a lot. Regardless, Theriot is going to start tomorrow, I'm almost positive Yeah I wouldn't put much stock into tomorrow's line-up. They just played a 15 inning game. I'm sure we'll see Blanco, Pie, Theriot...maybe even Ward at first for all I know. Either way, we need Hill/Marquis to go deep, and if not, then I hope Lieber is ready to go after a couple days off. I know he's used to being a start and getting his 4 days, but if we need bullpen innings tomorrow, we're in trouble if he can't pitch. I don't like Marshall going back to back, Woody can only go an inning, Hart pitched 2, and I'm pretty sure Marmol's on pace to shatter the appearances record. IMO, just throw Marquis, score about 9 in the first off of the shell that once was Matt Morris, and let Marquis go 7 innings, 4 ER and pick up an easy win....yes, those are possible sometimes.
  14. IF we're going to stay with the notion that we have to have a LOOGY, which is debatable as it is, I wonder how much it would take to pry Damaso Marte from the Pirates. I remember in the game yesterday they said that the Pirates had 3 lefties in their bullpen, which seemed a little excessive, and since they aren't going to be competing for a while I doubt a 33 year old reliever is of much importance to them. He's making $2 million this year, and has a club option for next year ($6 million or $250,000 buyout, which is a no brainer). Last year was his best year, so his perceived value has probably never been higher, but then again this is the same guy the White Sox traded for Rob freaking Mackowiak a couple years ago. His numbers against lefties have been amazing...a career 571 OPS against for left handed hitters, and last year they OPSed (not OBPed, mind you) 372, going 6-64 with 2 extra base hits. Even against righties he was pretty good, giving up a 765 OPS to them last year. I know our bullpen is one of our strengths, and maybe the upgrade he would bring isn't worth what we would have to give up, but it wouldn't hurt to look into it.
  15. With that wind....that was a BOMB
  16. I'm a little behind...but I'm guessing the unintentional-intentional walk is coming to Soto here....
  17. Erstad....Kendall....Jesus....I hope we don't play the Blue Jays this year....Eckstein would go deep about 5 times.
  18. Anybody else secretly hoping that ball got through the infield so Fuku would make Berkman look foolish at home plate?
  19. good thing I took him in about every league I was in Yeah, but my pick of Brian McCann AND Soto is looking real good right now, where the top two free agent catchers are Salty and AJ. I'll just wait for the trade requests to pile up...
  20. Or Fukudome would agree to switching between center and right depending on the pitcher...Against lefties you go Fukudome/Murton in center/right, and against righties you go Pie/Fukudome in center/right. Probably too much ask from Fuku, but hey....we can dream right?
  21. No mention of Jack Parkman for catcher? I know you don't want to double up on the same movie, but he's much better than a career minor leaguer. Also, off the bench you'd have to have Hedo (Heddo?) from Rookie of the Year. I say pinch hitter simply because the announcers seemed to be stunned when he came up in the ninth inning for the Mets. And anyone who can grind the bat with their bare hands would have to be pretty decent...
