To get even further off subject, our boy Kosuke is putting up a solid .328/.402/.472 in Japan this year at age 39. And I totally forgot he ended his MLB career on the South Side.

As memorable as I expect this team to be, it's nice to know we've got Brian Matusz and Joe Nathan (along with Joel Peralta who I've already completely forgotten about) on the 'wait, they actually played for the Cubs that year???' team.

Especially on a Friday night when I watched the games while pre-gaming and by the time it was over I had a solid buzz and it was time to go out. Now I give it a 50% chance I'm awake when the game ends. And to think I used to make fun of old people for not being able to stay up until midnight 4am start over here - excuse me but I'll pass. Just go to bed now and you should be able to wake up to catch the end of it....you'll probably miss most of the dongshow though. I'm fine with this one given that it's a Friday. August 22 and 23 (Monday/Tuesday) in San Diego is going to be a little rough.

http://www.fangraphs.com/coolstandings.aspx I know it's just rounding, but that's the first time I've seen the Cubs at 100% for making the playoffs, which is fun. If the Cubs go 28-27 the rest of the way, the Cardinals would have to go 37-17 to catch us. If we play to projection (99 wins currently), Cardinals have to go 42-12 to catch us. None of this is really groundbreaking, but every now and then it's good to sit back and smile.

Any reliever that allows a run is useless. You pretty excited about Montgomery and Joe Smith? Montgomery, yes. Smith, whatever, if you look at what we gave up, you can barely even call it a trade. See if he finds a good arm slot or Bosio does something. If not, oh no we're out our 47th best prospect.

I probably just missed it, but did we make a corresponding move after Matusz was released? I know there are plenty of internal options to fill the spot on the 25 man roster, but if they haven't officially announced anything yet, I assume it means they're at least still looking.
