  1. Good ones https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=all&stats=bat&lg=all&qual=0&type=8&season=2018&month=0&season1=2018&ind=0&team=0,ts&rost=&age=&filter=&players=0 Edit: To save you a click, Cubs are second in offensive (includes defense) WAR, by 0.1 WAR.
  2. Holy horsefeathers, watching the MLB Network clip, and they just flashed to the Cubs honoring the Air Force team, while talking about 9-11. In the background, they had American Pie playing. You know, the song about all the musicians dying in a plane crash.
  3. I can't believe these asshats are running out the worst possible version of Javy at short and are still within one game of us.
  4. Hell if he pulls it to the second baseman I bet Javy Scores too. Good call.
  5. "Well Brandon Morrow hasn't pitched since July 15th, but here he comes into the ninth inning of a tied Game 1 to face Christian Yelich with the bases loaded and nobody out. He said yesterday that he didn't feel quite comfortable, but he was willing to give it his best shot should the team need him."
  6. Yeah I was about to make that same point and then I looked at the numbers and it's depressingly the right move, at least based on the second half.
  7. It'd be nice if we could see some semblance of a hot streak from Quintana or Lester, so we aren't relying on maybe-for-real 2018 Cole Hamels as one of our top two starters.
  8. You know, for someone whose best quality is supposed to be keeping players loose, fresh, and healthy over the grind of a 6 month season, to the extent that everyone is willing to overlook his questionable/outright bad in game decisions....we've got a lot of players who don't look fresh, loose, or healthy right now.
  9. Almora is such horsefeathering trash. 2-0 and barely touched a pitch on his hands and then 3-1 and does that horsefeathers. In the one situation he’s supposed to provide offensive value.
  10. If he qualified, he'd have the second lowest pitches per plate appearance at 3.3. Andrelton Simmons at 3.27, though Almora almost triples his K rate. Then again, Javy is 4th lowest at 3.36, so maybe it's not necessary for success. Lol just kidding Javy is a baseball freak who rules don't apply to.
  11. God there's no way anyone ever hits that pitch when he executes it.
  12. I went back through his posts and outside of a few Bears game ones, he had that meltdown when the Al Franken story came out. Man, he's probably one of those people that thinks the Franken thing was all a setup, right? That's one of my favorite lame conspiracy theories: "alright, we're going to pay several women to make up stories about this totally average, unremarkable, ex-SNL writer/cast member Senator, and totally crush him! That will DESTROY the progressive movement in America for DECADES TO come! MUAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAH!!!" No, he basically said it wasn't sexual assault because it wasn't Harvey Weinstein-rape, I told him that it was and accused him of laughing off sexual assault, and then he told me to kill myself. Fun times.
  13. I honestly don’t remember. It was Sublime, wasn't it? I went back through his posts and outside of a few Bears game ones, he had that meltdown when the Al Franken story came out.
  14. Also the answer is two bad pitchers from two bad pitching staffs from two decidedly worse NL Central teams than the Cubs who will be competing to extend their season for 4 more games, max.
  15. go ahead and ban him now and i will be very sure to remind you when it is time to unban him no worries This is kind of how I banned sulley for 2 weeks and forgot to un-ban him. At the risk of sounding self-centered...wait, was this because of me?
  16. If you're not gonna use Strop to close, I'd say Chavez...the homer last night not withstanding. But Strop really is probably the best candidate. Yeah, doing that with Chavez eliminates one of his unique qualities, which is that he can throw multiple innings effectively out the pen. Now, in October that may be Monty's job, but given the...fragile nature of our starting pitching, I think you keep both of them in the middle innings role to put out fires.
  17. Maddon finally goes with the big swinging dick offense.
  18. [tweet] [/tweet] Please Javy, I'm begging you.
  19. The Cubs have had a winning record in every month, are 48-26 against sub-.500 teams, are on pace to win 95 games, and are 3 games up on every team in the NL. Yeah....if those are the flaws that lead to 'sending them home early'...who is this magical team of greatness who is going to take care of that job? Because by definition, it has to be a team that's played worse than them this year, at least until the World Series.
  20. I guess just use all your garbage pitchers tonight so Joe will be less likely to use them tomorrow.
