  1. I was just skimming and thought 4-3 was the date or something, and thought Walker was actually leading off. I almost had a heart attack, until I realized 4-3 was first.
  2. I assumed there would already be a discussion on this, but I didn't see it. Hopefully I didn't miss it, and therefore look like an idiot. tangotiger's analysis
  3. Even if we win out, we can't guarantee a playoff appearance. http://riot.ieor.berkeley.edu/~baseball/national_league.html
  4. He already got his RBI for the month. fixed
  5. What he said. I am glad I have to work this evening. So now have they lost 42 out of the last 60? Can't be -- how the hell did we ever win 18?? It's a miracle.
  6. it just bothers me because i've seen so many people do it (derek, derrick, derreck). I don't get what's so hard about spelling a name correctly. If it was Mientkiewicz or something, fine. But Derrek? Ugh. Just a pet peeve. It's not spelled correctly so often because it was poorly spelled by his parents. Blame them. Derek is how you spell Derek in America. If you want to spell it differently, expect mistakes. I spell mine Derek, but it is still spelled incorrectly more often than correctly by people other than family and friends. Even they spell it wrong occasionally.
  7. I would keep walking on Jackson and stop at Giordano's before I got on the train.
  8. One thing I noticed when I was watching the play was that not only did Barrett not have the ball, he wasn't blocking the plant. The back half of the plate was completely open for AJ to slide or run to, but he chose to plow over the unsuspecting Barrett who had less of a chance to prepare for that blow than AJ did for the punch. I'm not defending what Barrett did. He clearly overreacted, but AJ isn't completely innocent like so many make him out to be.
  9. Espn has he was suspended for the beaning and fined for the slur. Sorry I forgot to copy the links, and I'm too lazy to go get them.
  10. Guillen equated homosexuals and child molestors while in New York last year. Not sure about the context but Guillen did it. I've heard this referenced several times, not just here, but also by national sources like Jim Caple. My question is...Why didn't this make bigger news last year? or is my memory just getting that bad?
  11. He's already taking bp.
  12. Doesn't Wilbon also call Dusty the Rev. Johnnie B? I'm probably mistaken, but I think I've heard him call him that once or twice before. Maybe I'm mixing the times I've caught the tail end of Around the Horn with PTI, since I usually only watch PTI.
  13. tall grass at wrigley for Pierre.
  14. I agree that he should have sent him there. It took a good relay to barely get him, and Slappy was on deck.
  15. Fred, do you ever get the feeling you are alone? thanks for doing what you do.
  16. Me, I figured they would have a home run by now.
  17. He was suppose to be at Wrigley today, to throw in front of Larry.
  18. I'm guessing this means Barrett's appeal is done and he will start serving today... Actually, ESPN said that he tweaked his back (or groin?) in yesterday's game and that's why he's sitting. question: Can he just start serving his suspension now, and still continue with the appeal? Or retroactive his start date to today if he doesn't play between now and his appeal? I highly doubt it, but am just hoping we don't have to suffer even more Barrett less lineups.
  19. Walker AND Nevin in the same lineup? Somebody must have told Dusty he could actually do that. He must of thought that since we are playing an AL team he could use a DH. However, when somebody told him he couldn't use a DH he didn't feel like changing his line up around and just continued where he left off. At least that is the only logical explanation I can think of.
  20. However, since Rusch only gives up fly balls, maybe we should use 4 outfielders. Good strategy if 2 can play in the bleachers and 1 on Waveland. Isn't the wind blowing out? Better have 2 on Waveland.
