that's legal in the states? wow...missed my calling. The term that Balsa is looking for here is Lumper, not humper. Lumper services are the scourge of the transportation industry. The are set up and operate similarly to ManPower and other temp labor outlets in that they pay the workers near minimum wage without benefits, and charge the customer a really significant markup. Typically 300% or more. On those rare occaisions when I get a load that is not palletized and must be hand loaded or unloaded, I will check to see if there are lumper services available, and if so, I will use them as I am able to pass the cost on to my customer. If there are no lumper services available, I might call ManPower and use them, but failing that, I will refuse the load. I don't finger print freight for anybody for any reason. Balsa, if you're really serious about getting into a job along these lines, I'll make some inquiries for you, but I don't think you would be happy with the situation. I think you could get a part time job with United Parcel Service doing the same kind of work for a little more money. In any case, let me know if you're really interested, and I'll check around. With that type of endorsement who wouldn't want to work for a lumper?!
