  1. That would make infinitely more sense especially considering the back of rotation comment. Yeah, wouldn't Cain be the Sox like #1/2?? But yes, I would do Lowry for Crede too if I were the Sox. Lowry just has a huge control problem and his stats outside of Pac Bell/whatever it's called are terrible. Almost 1.5 runs higher over the course of his career. That could be cause for concern especially since Comiskey is a hitters haven.
  2. I'm pretty sure a trade would involve Noah Lowry rather than Cain. Numerous articles have been written about this and all have mentioned Lowry, not Cain. IIRC, Lowry and Crede's salaries basically offset.
  3. Nice vid. Only the true 'legends'. I think you kinda eluded to that with the opening quote. That Brooks Robinson play is amazing. Oh, and after taking a close look at Lou Gehrig, could you imagine that guy with today's strength programs/drugs? Scary.
  4. I wish he didn't walk so many people.
  5. "Jim repeatedly used the word “knucklehead” in describing Ohman. Each time he did, I giggled and flapped my hands in hysterics." Funny stuff. And informative too.
  6. What a terrible set up system. $90/ticket was the cheapest that came out for me.
  7. Why? Why is it so upsetting to everyone to get 100 innings of league average production from the 5 spot as opposed to 200 innings of below average production? seriously? where are the other 100 innings that lieber can't go coming from? also, i don't think it's written in stone that a fat, oft-injured, 38 year old lieber is league average. Probably not average, but #5's don't have to be.
  8. Maddux' numbers would look pretty good about now. Nah, do you remember how bad Maddux was for us right before we got rid of him? Isn't he still making over 10mil? No thanks, he's had a lot of help playing in large stadiums. Lots!
  9. Take out Jon's Philly home starts the past couple of years and he's actually been solid for a #4/5. Doesn't walk anybody, gotta like that. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/5235/splits;_ylt=AsJKJXZ6GlArNAmG4FyHppCFCLcF
  10. I love that line. But what does it mean? @$19 a year if I'm not mistaken  It was great last year watching teams consistently run on Soriano, and run themselves out of big innings. That probably had more to do with his 6 errors .978 fielding % and terrible routs to the ball. But he dose have an arm. How many games it changed though remains to be seen. He killed several rallies and generated a lot of outs with that arm. Not to mention the times teams may have feared taking an extra base or trying to score when a ball was hit to LF. I agree with you to a point. But IIRC, about 3-5 of those assists came from balls he let by him and the runners were trying to take the extra base.
  11. I think he was being serious at first, actually wondering where Podsednik went. But just out of curiosity not because he wants him.

  13. http://schwartzsports.com/ Try here. Not positive they have unsigned Cubs stuff, but it wouldn't hurt to e-mail or call. I've gotten 14x20's of Urlacher from there. I called to check on their inventory. They said they have a couple copies of a Billy Williams and print and a couple copies of an Ernie Banks print. Nothing too exotic. That's interesting. They usually have like 6 Cubs players there a year so I thought they would have some solid inventory.

  15. I've always thought the Bears do a pretty good job with their convention. Obviously the autograph lines are long, but it's for people like Vasher, Mark Anderson, Berrian, etc. I don't remember seeing the stars (Harris, Urlacher, Briggs) at the autograph sessions. But the info sessions and Q & A's are usually great...plenty of seating and time for everyones questions if they have one. Can anyone compare the two? I've never been to the Cubs, mostly because I just assumed it was a zoo.
  16. FWIW, DLee in the second half last year... .302/.386/.554 16 HR and 17 2B in 258 AB Although...that looks mighty nice.
  17. Care to elaborate? Yes, people on this board need to take the blue tinted sunglasses off and realize this deal is a steal for us. We getting one of the best leadoff men in baseball, an all-star and another great club house guy for pretty much nothing. You guys are blowing your loads over the 2 pitching prospects that have showed us NOTHING. Leadoff isn't a position. All-Stars mean almost nothing. I don't care if someone is the worst clubhouse guy in the world as long as they could play ball. I'm not the biggest fan of this deal, but I wouldn't be bummed if it went down, as long as we made a move for another pitcher (Blanton or Burnett). Basically this isn't the trade I'm worried about (if it stands as Marshall-Gallagher-Cedeno), but what comes after this trade that concerns me. Really? I would. I really don't. At this point I don't care about anything but winning. Sad, maybe, but it's true. I personally don't care, but I would have to think some members of the team would. Baseball is just like any other job, probably moreso with roadtrips, etc. Do you like working with jackasses? I'm probably one of the few on here who actually thinks clubhouse chemistry is important (not greatly mind you, but still somewhat important).
  18. Just saw that Phil Rogers said Derrek Lee could hit 6th with the addition of Roberts...very interesting. And I think that's a solid idea as long as Theriot/whoever is 8th.
