  1. They're pretty good at cranking out young pitchers and trading them or letting them walk before the wheels fall off. I wonder who will trade a bunch of prospects for Trevor Cahill a year before his arm falls off. They missed the boat on Brett Anderson. He's likely to get TJS soon as he's on his 2nd visit to Dr. Andrews this week. He's still really young though, just turned 23
  2. OK, so Zunino is expected to stay at catcher, I wasn't sure.
  3. I bet this will make the A's way better.
  4. And the only 2 LHP were David Clyde ('73) and Brien Taylor ('91)....so 2/2 on failures with HS pitchers at #1. I've never heard of Danny Goodwin (#1 in '75 from Peoria)
  5. Did you sorta list those in order of status right now? I really know nothing about any of them other than Appel, Maddox and Zunino.
  6. The way I see it, these 7 teams are fighting for the Fecal Title. Not sure any other team is/will be bad enough. Minnesota 23 38 0.377 --- Houston 24 38 0.387 0.5 CUBS 24 36 0.400 1.5 Kansas City 26 36 0.419 2.5 Oakland 27 36 0.429 3.0 Washington 27 35 0.435 3.5 San Diego 28 35 0.444 4.0
  7. Aroldis....not trying to be nit picky, just correcting in case you really do have it mixed up in that brain.
  8. Seems like Kent St has had a bunch of guys drafted

  10. Wow, I can't even begin to try to remember any those Korean names right now.
  11. I half wonder if the loaded pitching at XST had them leaning towards filling positional holes earlier. I mean, we do have a lot of intriguing arms in XST that are poised for shortseason ball. System seems very reminiscent of the 2003 system in that way. Here's hoping more arms turn out than that group did. Who we got with decent upside down there?
  12. I'm assuming this is in reference to DeVoss. I think he's got a better approach than EPatt at the plate. He understands his game is small ball. I think he is also a better base runner than EPatt. I think DeVoss is closer to a Campana, perhaps with a bit better approach at the plate and a bit better of a threat with the bat, albeit, probably not as fast. Would have watch their game a bit closer a few days ago had I known they'd take him...
  13. Yes, the MLB site video is awful because it makes you watch him run. Jiggly
  14. Sorta looks like an Eric Patterson type
  15. Yes. Their normal 1B is a junior (Preston Tucker) who should go pro though in the last few weeks, they've started a defensive-minded sophomore with little bat and moved Tucker to RF. Seems to be a guy who's stock would only increase after playing in college. Doubt there's any way he wouldn't hit 20 HR's yearly.
  16. For those who watch a lot of college baseball, would Vogelbach step in and start immediately for Florida? Probably a dumb question, I'm assuming yes?
  17. He's a beast in this video, much better than the other one:
  18. Just watched video......wow. Dude is really big (sorta fat) and slow. Matt Stairs?
  19. Rays finally take a cheapie...Hager looks like a slightly bigger me outta HS, weak arm for a SS.
  20. Nice draft for the AL East once again
  21. A lot of these late 1st round guys are total scrappers - happy with Baez at this point after seeing a lot of these bats.
  22. 32 walks to 3 strikeouts. I know high school numbers dont mean much and so there's some mixed reports on his plate discipline, but I think its best we withhold judgment on that until we've seen him play some games professionally. I have to wonder how plate discipline and swinging and missing are issues of his if scouts haven't seen him do it. I'm not trying to be facetious either, there's got to be a reason these are being reported about him. Anyone that's into high school scouting that can explain? Maybe just off summer games vs. better competition?
