  1. As far as ceiling goes -- for me: 1) Soler 2) Almora 3) Dunston Jr. 4) Ha 5) Szczur 6) BJax
  2. This Bill Cunningham guy is comically bad.
  3. That's hilarious. The pitch didn't even register on the stadium radar gun.
  4. Sulley and Parks are going at it and I'm stuck in the middle :-"
  5. Oooh, I want in. Ha, yes a retweet! With #Cubs fans, lmao.
  6. I didn't know the guy from the Food Network also played minor league ball. I'm sure he really brings the heat... You have been Chopped.
  7. Yeah, they haven't had many guys drafted I don't think but NCHS has been sending guys to some good schools (Colin Bates - UNC & Shane Conlon - Kansas St.). Too bad Owen Daniels quit our Freshman year, he was a beast SS & Pitcher. Lawler passed away a couple years ago from cancer. Great pitching coach, his brother was/is at Texas A&M for a long time. Best players I ever faced in HS were Bo Flowers, Bogusevic, Cesar Carrillo, Kris Honel & Carmen Pigniatello.
  8. Just wondering, what is the hold up on switching? I don't know a lot other than cable so I'm always interested to hear other options.
  9. Ever scout Illinois Wesleyan? We had a few guys drafted in my time there (Cory Lapinski, Drew Himes, maybe 1 other?). Our best player, Steve Schilsky, dropped in the draft big time after breaking his leg Junior year. Worst injury I've ever seen live. Too bad you just missed scouting me at Naperville Central too ;) And too bad both schools won National & State Titles after I graduated... :good: :x
  10. Baez to Chicago the second he passes the year-of-control date at the end of April. That would make this man very happy.
  11. Baez to Chicago late 2014.
  12. I don't know that Theo and Jed foresaw Nate being as good as he has been, but signing him to that deal and protecting him in a platoon has looked like a pretty [expletive] prescient move. It'd look a lot better if they had found a better other half of the platoon. Hey, no shame in taking a shot at someone like Hairston. If that had worked out the production would have been epic. No, I absolutely agree with the thought behind it, but you can't heap on too much praise, hindsight and all. But, he did turn into Pineyro, so there's that.
  13. I still am highly doubtful that this FO will make that big veteran "top-tier free agent" splash this off-season. After 2014, with more and more prospects, particularly arms,in the upper levels? I can see that, but it just feels like this is one-year early to make that big splash, based on what the FO has said and done. Granted, maybe they are trying to get everyone to think that way for a specific purpose, but with so many teams flush with money, I'm taking them at face-value for now. I'm the opposite; I think this means they are very interested in bringing someone in for 2014. They signed Edwin for decent $$ this offseason at a position of weakness, why wouldn't they try to do the same for the lineup? Add an OF, get somewhat bounce back years from Castro/Rizzo and this lineup isn't looking all that bad.
  14. I have great tickets for Kane County tomorrow night, but their roster isn't leaving me very interested anymore...think I'm gonna skip out on it. Any reason I shouldn't?
  15. Eww, those sound gross except for maybe Iwakuma and Hellickson.
  16. Gordon Beckham? How is he similar?
  17. Yes, Puig looks odd throwing the ball because he sort or "wrists" it, but is it really THAT amazing? It's not like it's that far of a throw....I just don't get all the hype over it. Ichiro and Vlad have done far better.
  18. Not sure Bryant opens 2015 in the bigs though the hope is he makes a strong contribution that season. I would hope he's up by the start of 2015 the way he's hitting. I think half season AA/half season AAA should be plenty.
  19. Kyle has to post just for the sake of posting, right?
