  1. Thank you to the Ukraine for taking over last place from the USA.
  2. Tunisia scores the tying goal in the second minute of extra time. That's gotta hurt Saudi Arabia. A couple minutes away from their first WC victory since 1994.
  3. Al Jaber just came in as a sub for Saudi Arabia and scored a goal on one of his first touches. A bit of a change in the first game for Saudi Arabia. In 2002 they lose 8-0 to Germany. In 2006 they are 4 minutes + ET away from a 2-1 victory.
  4. I had to go take a final so I missed it live but I just saw a replay during halftime of the Tunisia-Saudi Arabia game and that was an excellent goal.
  5. The main reason that play was bad was because Wade was the defender. Howard would outjump anyone else. It still wouldn't have been a great play because you still need a virtually perfect pass. Dirk definately should not have been inbounding. Miami still has to win all three at home to have a chance because there is no way they win 2 in Dallas. I could see them pulling one out, but no way do that win games 6 and 7 in Dallas.
  6. Agreed. Should have been a no call. And even if you call a penalty kick, there is no way that's a red card - a yellow at best.
  7. 2 goals for Spain in the first 17 minutes.
  8. Big win for Miami. I still don't think they will win the series, but it's a big win nonetheless.
  9. Apparently $8m in guaranteed cash. Yeowza! Carson Palmer's signing bonus was $10m as the #1 overall pick in 2003. $8m would be one heck of a carrot. Brady Quinn will most likely go #1 in the 2007 NFL draft assuming he doesn't get hurt this year so Samardzija would only be good enough for #2 at best. That's assuming no wide receivers enter early as well. The Cubs are probably trying to trump any money that he could get in the NFL.
  10. Miami up 94-93 with 1:03 to go.
  11. Good night for Prior. Not a bad pitch count, would be 126 for 9 innings, and he threw a lot of strikes. I would like to see him make one more start at AAA though before being brought up.
  12. 2.14 WHIP and 7.71 ERA. Not good for Aardsma.
  13. Maybe if Everett wouldn't have thrown that ball from his knees, it wouldn't have hit Murton's hand.
  14. Of course not. That would just be the right thing to do.
  15. You have to wonder what compels people to make videos like this.
  16. 360. They scored in the 90th minute of the World Cup final in 1998 and havn't scored in their four games since.
  17. It does leave a lot to be desired. At least you will see Schilling pitch. Not worth it. IMO I believe the Twinkies just got the ok for a new stadium though didn't they? I will actually go watch them whenever I am in the cities now. I went to a few games at the Humpty Dome and vowed to never again step foot in there for a baseball game. They did get the ok for a new stadium as did the University of Minnesota for a football stadium so they won't have to play in the Metrodome anymore either.
  18. Here's hoping Prior continues to show improvement.
  19. Julie Foudy needs to be fired. She said that Brazil should be concerned because Ronaldo looked horrible. Um, Julie, the last time I checked Brazil is basically an all-star team, especially offensively. I'm sure they have another young striker (Robinho maybe?) that can come in and do a great job.
  20. F-I-R-E D-U-S-T-Y
  21. Because he's fat? yeah, pretty much He does look a little chunkier than he should be. And aside from that one shot Ronaldo hasn't done a thing today. Unless he picks it up, he doesn't have a chance to get the all time World Cup goal scoring record.
  22. one good start by marmol and marshall's 4.43 era remind you of prior's near cy young season and wood's 14 win, 3.19 era and amazing pitching down the stretch leading the cubs to the postseason? that's some imagination you got there. While I agree it's a stretch. He's just basically excited to see some pretty decent young guys step up and possibly be our pitchers next year. Don't put a downer on that please!! You have to remember also that marshalls ERA is inflated by that one inning where he gave up like 6 or 7 runs. He's had a handful of only giving up 1-3 runs per game. 4 of his 12 starts he's been pretty bad(4 ER/4.1 IP, 4 ER/5 IP, 9 ER/3.2 IP, 7 ER/3.1 IP), so it's not like one or two outings are really skewing his numbers. The two outings where he gave up 4 runs were the first two starts of his career and his pitch counts were likely limited (65 and 79 pitches). I wouldn't call those "pretty bad" since the Cubs won both of those games. Since then he has had two bad starts out of the remaining 10. He's also had 7 quality starts.
  23. So does he get shut down in August or September for Tommy John surgery?
