    Counsell just got tossed and lost his horsefeathers after Bumgarner probably hit Braun on purpose.

    This probably isn't true, but I have a hard time believing they would pitch Max in a last game like that and not shut him down at that point and take a look at some youngster with upside. I want the game postponed so that they can go a day without playing and the game might not matter later. The way they’ve got the schedule set up now, Scherzer’s last start would be Tuesday Sept 25 vs Miami. So he could go on normal rest in Colorado on Sunday. Whether or not he pitches could depend on if he feels he needs one more good start for the Cy Young. Of course, all the games start at the same time that last Sunday so if he wanted another start, it would have to be that day. No way to know if the Cubs and Brewers would need the extra game before Sunday’s game.

    Still only the one run allowed and he’s only at 57 pitches through 4.

    Jeimer hit a walkoff on Friday, I’ll give him a pass. The goon in right who just missed a lazy fly ball, well, screw him.

    I’m guessing part of it is they want to get this game in if possible. The NL playoffs start a day earlier this year (NL wild card game is Tuesday instead of Wednesday) so they’d have one less day for any tiebreaker games. Since in all likelihood the only tiebreaker game the Cubs would play is for the division, MLB probably doesn’t want to worry about pushing back a wild card game.

    Yep. I don’t mind essentially punting the first game. But if you’re going to only start Murphy and Zo in 1 game, do it in the game you’re actually trying to win. Especially with Murphy since it was a righty starting the second game.

    That is the rule. I think it was a touchback. The rule is stupid though. It's also stupid to dive for the end zone with the ball out like that (unless there isn't another play after like end of half or it's 4th and goal). I agree the rule is dumb, but it's the rule and players shouldn't take the risk of something like this happening.

    But we were supposed to be rained out of at least one game today, if not both. And then when it started raining in the 6th today, it wasn’t supposed to stop.
