  1. The Correa one was a curve with two runners on so I'm guessing that wasn't intentional. The Bregman one was 100% intentional though. It was on a 3-0 count with nobody on and one out.
  2. Cubs pen maintaining their stellar 9 ERA on the year with that homer.
  3. Regarding the facing three batters rule. I know you’re allowed to face less than that if it ends the inning. But if you gave one batter one inning and you go back out to start the next, are you required to face two or can you only face one and be removed (so two total).
  4. Plus, not only did the betting site pay the guy anyway but the guy donated the money to a Black Lives Matter fund in the UK.
  5. The Cubs won today. That was good. The Cubs bullpen was a disaster today. That was not so good. *Small sample size alert* The Cubs starters have allowed 4 runs in 24 innings. Cubs relievers have allowed 12 runs in 12 innings. Regardless, it was good to see Lester pitch well today, even if it was only one start and 5 innings, and the offense showed up again. Cubs are now 3-1 and sole possession of first place. If they don't want to fall out of first the rest of the year, that would be great. Mahle's career ERA is just under 5 so hopefully the Cubs light him up to give Mills and the pen enough of a cushion. It would seem likely there will be a lot of runs scored in this one so it will probably finish 3-2 because baseball. Go CUBS!!
  6. Things I did not miss about not having baseball the last 4 months: the Cubs bullpen.
  7. *googles Sergio Mitre* Yeah, that dude is a horrible human being.
  8. https://www.mlb.com/news/no-mlb-teams-open-2020-season-3-0 First time since 1954 that no team started 3-0.
  9. So Chatwood pitched well, the bullpen was solid and the offense had a big day. Normally we'd say it was only three games and one series but those three games were 5% of the season. This week is no different going to Cincinnati for four. Lester gets his first start of the year and hopefully it goes the way of Hendricks or Chatwood rather than Darvish. Go CUBS!!
  10. A friend who is watching the Sunday night game said that they said on the broadcast it's the first time since 1953 there hasn't been a single sweep in the opening round of games.
  11. We all know that forearm strains are a pretty minor injury and never lead to a longer lay-off due to a more major surgery. Verlander is a ticking time bomb at this point. I guess it makes sense to try. If you need surgery, you’re missing next year regardless, whether you get it now or two months from now. So either he recovers and is fine or we don’t see him until 2022.
  12. Leicester was in free fall before the shut down. Last eight games before the break they won 2, tied 2 and lost 4. Three of those four losses were to Southampton, Burnley and Norwich. They also tied Norwich earlier in the season also. 12 wins in their first 16 games but only 6 in the last 22.
  13. Home Cubs activated! Hopefully we don't get 2019 road Cubs also though.
  14. Verlander is our for the year with an elbow injury. Could be out next year also if it’s the UCL.
  15. 3 straight days of no Almora starting is wonderful to see.
  16. CubsWin11 has been MIA since yesterday morning so I'm stepping in. As mojo pointed out to me, I predicted I'd start the third game of the year when I signed up. Would be nice to get the season started on the right foot with a series win. I'm not super optimistic because Chatwood is starting but who knows. Hope the offense shows up today and puts up a big number. Go CUBS!!
  17. Mount just flipped you the bird. I haven’t been watching them much so he might have been crap up until now.
  18. his career obp is pretty locked in, I'd sacrifice walks to get extra ABs and pad my career dinger total at that age too It's not just about walks. We all know that chasing pitches is bad and his dropoff as a hitter can largely be attributed to losing patience and putting crappy pitches that he used to laugh at, into play. He really hasn't padded any stats as much as he's hindered his own path to being the HR king he had expected to be. His chase rate was sub 20 in his prime. A hitters eye is normally the one tool you can reasonably expect to maintain as age catches up. He has been over 30% for a decade now. It seems to be a pretty unique case of decline. Well he was 40 when he signed with the Angels so him seeing a drop off at that point makes sense.
  19. you're not wrong treat it like any late july win against the brewers in a bunched up tie for 1st and the magnitude of the win hits a little more. Yeah, just kind of weird to do it after the first game even though it makes total sense.
  20. Playoff odds went up by 4.3% today on Fangraphs! Sorry, had to.
  21. Would Maddon have pulled Kyle in the 8th? Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk Probably in the 6th when Yelich came up for the third time. He definitely brings in a lefty there.
