  1. Wow, that was one hell of a thunderbolt. I LOVED how all the kids started screaming in fear. Rain delay in Jackson...
  2. Why wouldn't you want the rest of the team to get on base well? That'll give more opportunities to score runs.
  3. Ron, the thunder-lightning difference works out more like 5 miles per second between the lightning and hearing the thunder clap. Hope we won't have to deal with any major delays. West Tenn in the top of the fourth. Sean: 3.1 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K. ---- Peoria down 4-2 in the top of the 8th. Boise tied at 2 in the top of the 7th.
  4. West Tenn is scoreless in the top of the third. The Jaxx had the bases loaded with 1 out in the 2nd and came away with nothing. Sean Gallagher: 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 1 K. Peoria now down 4-2 in the bottom of the 6th. Blackford's final line: 5 IP, 4 R, 2 ER, 8 H, 1 BB, 5 K. Boise still knotted up with Vancouver at 2 after 5. Pina's final line: 4.2 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 BB, 0 K.
  5. Daytona lost 6-1. Harvey went 1 for 4 with a double and did not strike out (on a day when the D-Cubs got 8 Ks).
  6. I disagree. Robinson certainly is a nice prospect, but I prefer Ceda. Without a doubt.
  7. West Tenn is scoreless in the 2nd. Daytona is down 6-0 in the 8th. Harvey is 0 for 3 with 0 Ks. Peoria is down 3-2 in the 5th. Boise and Vancouver are tied at 2 in the 5th inning. Boise scored both their runs on the same play - with runners at the corners, the Vancouver catcher throws the ball away as Colvin steals 2nd. This allows Matulia to score from 3rd. The CF then threw the ball away to allow Colvin to score. Tyler Colvin is 1 for 2 with a strikeout.
  8. Whomever this guy is who is saying Neifi is better than Jeter ( !) should immediately replace Walt Jocketty.
  9. Iowa wins it 5-1. They added 2 in the bottom of the 8th on a Jesse Hoorelbeke 2-run HR. Bynum and Pie's final lines are right, EPatt got one more AB and got a single. He ended the day 2 for 4. Daytona is down 4-0 in the 5th. Ryan Harvey is 0 for 2. Peoria is down 1-0 after 1. Todd Blackford gives up an ER in the top of the 1st.
  10. Iowa up 3-1 in the middle of the 8th. Felix Pie: 1 for 4, 2 strikeouts. Freddie Bynum: 1 for 2, RBI, replaced defensively in the 5th inning. Eric Patterson: 1 for 3, RBI single Daytona is down 4-0 in the top of the 5th.
  11. Yeah, the rumor was out late last week that the Giants had signed him. He is a hitter, and in fact, plays third base.
  12. Probably... An interview with Jim Hendry in the Daytona Beach News-Journal. Easily the highlight:
  13. I knew there aren't separate halves at the AAA level, but I wasn't sure if there were any wild cards (as there are in the Midwest League). Nah, the PCL doesn't have a wild card.
  14. Probable Starters: Iowa: LHP Les Walrond (9-5, 4.15 ERA) vs. LHP John Rheinecker (4-2, 2.50 ERA) West Tenn: RHP Sean Gallagher (6-3, 2.70 ERA; overall: 10-3, 2.48 ERA) vs. RHP Corey Thurman (5-8, 2.88 ERA) Daytona: RHP Ryan Bicondoa (1-1, 2.13 ERA) Peoria: RHP Todd Blackford (9-7, 5.54 ERA) @ RHP Matt Walker (5-2, 5.04 ERA) Boise: RHP Jose Pina (2-5, 5.48 ERA) @ RHP Andrew Bailey (1-3, 1.95 WHIP) Mesa: RHP Chris Huseby (0-1, 4.32 ERA) & RHP Marco Carillo (2-0, 2.20 ERA) Walrond: 125.2 IP, 99/59, 1.50 WHIP Gallagher (West Tenn & Daytona): 145 IP, 149/67, 1.38 WHIP Bicondoa: 25.1 IP, 31/6, 1.14 WHIP Blackford: 125 IP, 62/55, 1.58 WHIP Pina: 46 IP, 21/17, 1.41 WHIP Huseby: 8.1 IP, 9/1, 1.56 WHIP Carrillo: 32.2 IP, 25/7, 1.01 WHIP
  15. Jake Renshaw gave up 3 ER in 4.1, but 2 of those came in the 5th. Not bad considering he gave up 2 hits in the 5th and then left (one of those hits being an IF hit) and Blevins let those 2 inherited runners scores. Strikeout numbers are down big time in 2 starts at Boise.
  16. I just wanted to add some pretty Fred-like codes to NCCF's post: Yeah, Iowa has to win the division (there are no first half/second half division titles in the PCL). PCL American North Nashville 69-59 .539 - Iowa 64-64 .500 5.0 --- 16 games remaining SL North Tennessee 32-23 .582 - Huntsville 31-23 .574 0.5 Chattanooga* 29-26 .527 3.0 West Tenn 27-29 .491 5.0 --- 15 games remaining The Jaxx finished 11 games ahead of Carolina and Tennessee, 18.5 ahead of Huntsville, so it seems likely the Jaxx will make the playoffs if Chattanooga wins the SL North in the second half. FSL East St. Lucie* 31-24 .564 - Daytona 30-24 .556 0.5 --- 16 games remaining Palm Beach 30-25 .545 1.0 The Tri-City game was probably not a final when you posted. NWL East Boise 33-26 .559 - --- 17 games remaining Tri-City 31-28 .525 2.0 Sounds about right. Mesa is definitely done since they only have 9 games left.
  17. I'm out for the night, headed down to Anaheim to catch an Angels game. I leave you with some scores: Buck Coats gets a sac fly in the bottom of the 2nd and Iowa leads it 8-0 after 2. EPatt grounded out in his second AAA at bat. West Tenn is up 4-3 in the bottom of the 2nd. Scott Moore with a 2-run HR. Daytona is up 5-4 in the top of the 9th. Peoria is tied at 2 in the bottom of the 6th. Scott Taylor: 5 IP, 2 ER, 6 H, 2 BB, 2 K.
  18. Was difficult to do that yesterday! :( Today? Guilty as charged. Who's replacing Eric down at West Tenn?
  19. According to the Iowa box score and gamecast. And he hit a solo HR in his first AB at AAA.
  20. Err, apparently Eric Patterson was promoted to Iowa today. He just homered in his first AAA at bat. Iowa put up 7 in the bottom of the first. The highlights: Michael Restovich with an RBI triple. Freddie Bynum scores. 1-0 Iowa. Jeff Deardorff with an RBI double. Restovich scores. 2-0 Iowa. Casey McGehee with an RBI double. Deardoff scores. 3-0 Iowa. Buck Coats with an RBI double. McGehee scores. 4-0 Iowa. Jesse Hoorelbeke hits a 2-run HR. Coats scores. 6-0 Iowa. Eric Patterson hits a solo HR. 7-0 Iowa. Jae-Kuk Ryu: 1.1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 K Felix Pie: 1 for 2, triple Freddie Bynum: 1 for 2, single Eric Patterson: 1 for 1, solo home run Iowa up 7-0 in the middle of the 2nd.
  21. Uhh, Harvey has definitely changed his approach at this point. The announcers are talking about how's he's taking pitches now that he would have flailed away at earlier in the season...anyways he grounds out 6-3 this time on a 7-pitch AB (an AB in which Harvey fell behind 0-2 and battled back to a full count).
  22. Daytona is up 5-4 in the top of the 8th. Carlos Perez couldn't get out of the 4th inning: 3.2 IP, 3 R, 2 ER, 6 H, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 3 K. Grant Johnson in relief: 3 IP, 1 ER, H, 1 K. Tim Layden: 0.1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, allows an inherited runner of Grant Johnson's to score. Ryan Harvey: 0 for 3, strikeout. Peoria up 2-0 in the middle of the 4th. Scott Taylor: 3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 2 BB, 0 K
