  1. Of course, right now they are suspended from playing even at Stanford.
  2. Drew spends a lot of time on the DL. We should be trying to avoid that kind of player, if the last two years has taught us anything. So have a good backup for the 30 games he'll miss. The 125 games he's in the lineup, he'd be a force. He's been pretty healthy this year.
  3. Stanford's band is awesome.
  4. Honestly, that's why I posted the quote.
  5. Don't we all? So you'd send up Bowen or Klesko? Klesko does have a 1.833 OPS on the year. :)
  6. Mark Grace is nice?
  7. They're pretty close - I guess I'm surprised BA would rate Bruce over Maybin.
  8. I hope he made strides with his swing, that would be good in a lost season for Dope. "Getting hurt was no doubt a blow to who I was as a person and where I stood confidence-wise after doing pretty well in the spring. It sucked, but there's nothing else you can really say about it. I look at it as the injury just gave me more time to work on my swing, especially coming off the year I had last year. I just try to learn something from the positives and learn something from the negatives--and that's not just in the game, but in my life. That's how I roll."--Cubs first baseman Brian Dopirak on his rehab after breaking his foot on Opening Day.
  9. Yankees.
  10. Yesterday, Hendry said that Dusty and he never really disagreed on personnel so I think Hendry likes these types of players too.
  11. Supposedly he's been good on the road. Petco is good for pitchers too.
  12. Judging his managing skills on just one year of managing with the Marlins isn't that great an idea either. You're probably not going to get a complete picture. It's better than basing your call on the fact that he went to NU 20 years ago, and was a pretty below average Cub for 7 seasons. If you're hiring him to be a bench coach, whatever. If he's your manager, you judge him on his management experience, no matter how short it may be. You don't judge him just based on his management experience. And his solid education might be nice addition, but yes, you can't determine whether he'll be a good manager or not based on that either.
  13. Don't tell posters to shut their yaps.
  14. Yeesh, St. Louis has to start Jeff Weaver in game 2?
  15. Even if they wait for their pitches, it doesn't mean they score those runs with RISP. The A's also blew a big chance with the bases loaded and 1 out.
  16. At San Diego, on ESPN and ESPN Radio. RHP Chris Carpenter (15-8, 3.09 ERA, 184 K/43 BB) @ RHP Jake Peavy (11-14, 4.09 ERA, 215/62)
  17. Yeah, I don't think Drew will opt out and the Dodgers would prefer a trade to losing Drew without compensation. I'm not sure why the Tigers might trade/non-tender Craig Monroe but then go for Jacque. They seem like similar players who bat from different sides of the plate.
  18. Judging his managing skills on just one year of managing with the Marlins isn't that great an idea either. You're probably not going to get a complete picture.
  19. Heh, it would have been truely Cub-like if Kendall had picked off Bartlett.
  20. The gave a scouting report and mentioned his Candian roots. Then this:
