  1. While I'd like to see Gallagher start next year at AA, the Cubs have been aggressive with him. No matter what the rest of the rotations are looking like, I can see the Cubs bumping someone to the Iowa pen to let Sean start at AAA.
  2. PDF version of schedule Most things Smokies-related can be found at their web site: http://www.smokiesbaseball.com/
  3. Game is on FOX or FX, depends on where you're at.
  4. Farmar, Hollins and Bozeman gone. Collison and Shipp should handle most of what Farmar and Bozeman brought. Replacing Hollins is going to be tougher. Hopefully Mata, Wright and Aboya are up to the task. Dragovic looks great, Shipp is healthy, Collison is bigger, Luc Richard has a jumper now. :) I'm pumped!
  5. Holy crap. A 6'10" guy throwing 101. He WOULD murder Pujols.
  6. Les Walrond turns up on the roster of Hermosillo. He started the opener: 5 IP, 1 ER, 3 R, 5 H, 5 K/3 BB, 1 HBP Still can't find Casey McGehee.
  7. Doesn't look like he's on the list of Rockies sent to Hawaii: 2B Eric Young, Jr. OF Cole Garner OF Dexter Fowler P Adam Bright P Chin Lung Lo P Shane Lindsay
  8. 11. CF Felix Pie 16. LHP Rich Hill EDIT: Contrary to their schedule on their web site, BA is listing their IL Top 20 (Delmon Young is #1) and doing the PCL Top 20 tomorrow.
  9. Speier was a third base coach with the Diamondbacks in 2001, was the bench coach for the A's in 2004.
  10. I can't wait till the Yanks will have two ROY candidate pitchers next year with Hughes and Matsuzaka...
  11. Let's see Tebow do what Mo and DeShaun have done in the NFL, first. ha yes he is! How about my Gators! UF '03 for me....and speaking for M. Drew...did he get married in the offseason and have to take his wife's name since he is now M. Jones-Drew for Jacksonville? :D He was Maurice Jones-Drew last year at UCLA too. He added his grandfather's last name (Jones) to his name when his grandfather (who had been to everyone of Mo's football games from pop warner on) passed away during a game at the Rose Bowl.
  12. That's totally uncalled for. I'm going to have to watch the last 19 seconds of the UCLA-Gonzaga game about 10 times now.
  13. Either way, it'll be a long season. EDIT: I just realized I have to hate you since I hate all things Gators since the NCAA basketball final.
  14. It's hard for me to say I'd PREFER a loss, but I can certainly see the argument that it may be a benefit. That said I don't think we'll be 11-0 and I'll be saying to myself "We could really use a loss right about now." The way BBB worded that (emphasis added by me) - of course all us Bear fans would prefer a regular season loss to a postseason loss.
  15. Is that the best way for him to get innings? I don't know much about instructs except that they have different rules. It seems that he needs consistent innings after some injuries this year and considering his inury history. Build up that arm strength, etc. Probably not the best way for him to get innings but he'll probably get as many as he would have in the AFL. He'd be getting better, more direct instruction/coaching.
  16. I have an extremely strong dislike to all things Detroit, I can't root for the Tigers.
  17. I'm inclined to think two of Jae-Kuk Ryu, Carlos Marmol, Angel Guzman, Sean Marshall and Juan Mateo are going to be traded. One will make the Cubs rotation or pen. That leaves two in the Iowa rotation, along with Randy Wells, Chris Shaver (I think he gets the nod ahead of Mathes since he has better stuff) and Adam Harben. Will O'Malley be back at the start of the season? I'm assuming Walrond is gone. I guess that leaves Gallagher at AA (I'd like that). I think Holliman eventually finds himself in the pen, but not yet. If that's how it plays out, then I'd like to see Grant Johnson starting at Daytona. And we're both ignoring the inevitable injuries.
  18. Verlander was a top-5 first round pick, but they cleaned up his mechanics (he had problems with his follow-through). Bonderman was a first round pick of the A's who came over in the Jeff Weaver three-way trade. Anyone else sense the dislike of moneyball just oozing from Piniella's voice?
  19. The young guys do that a lot. I know a bunch of Dodgers share apartments over a bar in Old Town Pasadena. Awful AB after getting ahead 2-0 by Swisher. Three ugly swings.
  20. Nice swing by Payton. The A's better score 2 this inning.
  21. He is, but he'll be back next year. I'm guessing the Cubs used an AFL invite as incentive for him to re-sign (they did this with Brandon Sing last year).
