  1. Yeah, I saw that at work today. My co-worker and I were so perplexed.
  2. Pie back in the 9-hole. Licey wins 8-6 in 11, box: CF F. Pie 1/4, R, BB (1!), 2 K (7), SB (2) Overall: 12/39, .308/.325/.385/.710, 1 BB, 7 K, 2/2 SB
  3. Scott Moore also had a huge game. Mesa wins 14-4, box: 2B E. Patterson 3/5, 2 R, 3B (2), HR (1), RBI (8), K (6), E (6, throwing) DH S. Moore 3/5, 3 R, 2B (5), HR (3), RBI (9) RP C. 4. From earlier reports, it sounds like MacPhail was the lead on the Aramis negotiations and giving the opt-out clause. MacPhail should be blamed for that, not Hendry. Aramis was going to opt out no matter what. He'd be stupid not to. If Hendry was able to get Aramis to re-sign before he opted out, he would have had to have paid out a ridiculous contract that would have upset even the most ardent sign-Aramis backer. Aramis had all the leverage in the world and would likely have spurned any offer before he had the chance to opt out. I can't blame Hendry for anything that has happened thus far. But now, the ball is in Hendry's court. He has two weeks of exclusive negotiation time and if he fails during this time, then he deserves the blame if Aramis walks away. And the Cubs should just blow it up if Aramis doesn't return. Making up his production AND adding the needed pitching and hitting to contend would be far too difficult for any GM in one offseason, let alone one like Hendry who has struggled mightily at times.
  5. Just to add to what raw said, the Dodgers have supposedly targeted Aramis and Soriano as their two biggest FA targets. It was bound to happen. Aramis has alot of value. A bidding war over him with another team is a fearful proposition. The grass has to be looking mighty green on the other side of the fence right about now. Though I thought I heard Aram say he would prefer to stay in Chicago. Saying something like that is usually the baseball equivalent of pillow talk. Lose Aram and we are surely in serious trouble for '07. I'm willing to say that right now. The Dodgers aren't the only Los Angeles team interested in Aramis. Quite frankly, if he's not a Cub next year, I expect him to be an Angel.
  6. I think a 2 year plan is needed, but Jim Hendry's job is on the line and he sure won't want to rebuild.
  7. I've had enough of this Weaver crap. All of you stop it, quit trying to egg on and piss off other posters.
  8. I like what Chris said about Pat Listach. I've heard a lot of great things about Listach from many of the players.

  10. Dude, you stole the pic I was gonna use for my sig. Not cool.

  12. On Saturday, Culiacan won 5-0, box: 3B C. McGehee 2/3, 2 R, 2B (6), 3 RBI (11), BB (6) Overall: 17/53, .321/.390/.491/.881, 6 BB, 6 K, 4 E

  18. Cal - 50 bajillion UCLA - negative 3 :( Plz go easy. This looks like a trap game that could completely ruin Cal's season though. UCLA's defense is alot better than alot of people think, so hopefully Tedford plans accodingly. Nah. The offense can't do anything and while the defense is great, they're not deep and are getting more and more tired from being on the field so much (and you better believe Tedford's going to get DeSean Jackson matched up one-on-one against Rodney Van after the last two weeks of miserable play by Van at corner). The team looks lost.
  19. would have C'mon Vance, drop it.
  20. What the heck? He had a pretty long post after that responding to your points. And please don't call other posters "ignorant." Hold the phone. Vance called me ignorant a couple of months ago. Well, I'm sorry I missed it but the same rules go for Vance and I or one of the mods would have called him out on name calling had we seen it. There is no name calling or attacking the posters.

  23. Hopefully the Bruins can rack up another moral victory in the Dorrell era!
  24. I would put USC ahead of ND right now. I wouldn't. USC lost to Oregon State for crying out loud. Not to mention that they were extremely close to losing to Washington State and Washington. USC was extremely overrated. And Notre Dame isn't? Cubweiser is right, they'll decide it on the field.
