He was a signability pick with local ties - the top guys on most boards like Jered Weaver and Stephen Drew were Boras clients. And I just typed out way more about the 2004 draft than anyone cares.

Is that what he meant, in regards to J. Albertos? I was so confused by that statement/speculation... I interpreted it as "something to do w/ off-field matters" or possible fight w/ teammate. I mean why would you hide someone that thoroughly? I mean just cause teams are interested in him doesn't mean you have to include him in trade talks. Strange. I guess it's good news that the injury isn't considered too serious... Fangraphs hinted at this as well.

Yeah, if it's weird to largely not want surgeried pitchers then I'll somehow trudge on with that label. You say they probably would sign Ross, but they didn't despite him coming cheap, low commit, and supposedly with zero risk on the Cubs' end based on reasons. Both of these guys don't just have some history with arm injuries, they have long histories throughout the pros and at least one major surgery under their belts apiece (Ross with at least two, including a major shoulder being rehabbed now). Even if you're not interested in signing Duffy, him going off the market next offseason is a bad thing for the Cubs because it eliminates one option for a higher end arm that competing teams can focus on in free agency. It's a scarce market and one of the better options just went off the market. -

For me, it has nothing to do with the Bears and everything to do with the Cubs winning the World Series. Really struggling to care about other sports again. But yeah, the Packers are going to the Super Bowl if they're going to play like this. Maybe the Patriots will stop them.
