  1. Alec Mills' injury is bone chips in his elbow.
  2. Grimm and Caratini down to make room for Wilson and Avila.
  3. I really can't see a pitcher with his injury history being #1 in the system. But I keep seeing him there now. That has to be a simple case of ranking inertia that gets corrected in the offseason, right? I think so. Given the number of innings he's lost, his chances of starting have to be diminishing greatly.
  4. Johnny Cueto left a rehab start (for blister problems) with a forearm strain.

  6. [tweet] [/tweet] Hmm... correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the Warriors have actually won a title before. The Warriors have won a title in Klay Thompson's lifetime, unlike the Dodgers. (This would've been better if Durant was like a month younger or Curry 6 months younger.)
  7. [tweet] [/tweet] It's a race between these two: [tweet] [/tweet]
  8. Not a bad haul for the Rangers but it definitely feels like they backed down from their previous demands.
  9. Fine, the Fangraphs odds go from 19% to 21%. They have endless payroll. "We may have wasted another year of Kershaw but hey at least we have Alex Verdugo and all this money!" if we're having this conversation a year ago, maybe you're talking about cody bellinger and not alex verdugo. i just don't see how it makes sense for any team that has the division locked up and is on pace for 114 wins to give up any future value for "upgrades." diminishing returns. i'm not even sure you get a 2% gain there. their WS odds are already absurdly high. maxed out. hell, they can still trade verdugo when they actually need an upgrade, maybe next year. how the hell do you get better than a .700 baseball team? Verdugo isn't on the same level as Seager or Bellinger (I'm not sure Joc won't end up with a better career). How much did the Cubs gain in WS% by trading away a better prospect than Verdugo for Chapman? The Cubs don't win last year's WS without Chapman. There are actual deficiencies and red flags on the Dodgers roster that should be addressed.
  10. Brooks makes the most sense. He's having a brutal year and all three of Frankoff, Floro and Leathersich have passed him up to be promoted at times this season.
  11. at this point I'm questioning if they are actually a baseball team But there's no question they're in first place, ahead of the vaunted Brewers.
  12. [tweet] [/tweet] Yes, yes. Ignore the injury red flags all over the rotation and the clear need for a lefty reliever and keep hording prospects like you're in Tampa. The Cubs team on their way to 103 regular season wins had a bullpen that looked fantastic at this time last year but thank goodness for the Chapman (eww) and Montgomery acquisitions.
  13. Even before this trade, I was envisioning 12 games (94 wins with the Cardinals or Pirates at 82).
  14. Want me to update your post with Justin Wilson and Alex Avila's names or keep it as is?
  15. As much as I'd like to say yes, they were already crumbling last year. They were 30-42 after the break (68 win pace). Ohh, so close to being nice.
  16. No, it sounds like it's Candelario, Paredes and possibly a PTBNL/cash. Well what's that fangraphs chart all about? Neither of those guys are Cubs prospects. Fangraphs fucked up.
  17. No, it sounds like it's Candelario, Paredes and possibly a PTBNL/cash.
  18. And we get Wilson for next year, with Davis and Uehara free agents.
  19. Is it a slider or a cutter? (Referencing the article that was posted earlier today.)

  21. Duensing has been pretty good. Grimm will go down, come back on 9/1.
