  1. I’d say Duke should write an article about the Cardinals for once but I’m sure their players don’t need his help to go drinking and driving after tonight’s game.
  2. Jeffrey Báez and Matt Swarmer were the April Cubs Minor League Player of the Month and Pitcher of the Month, respectively.
  3. Possibly. The first 50 FV prospect in their current top 100 is the #43 overall prospect but the rest of their top 100 are all 50s and some non-top 100s (including Ademan and Alzolay) are also 50s. That said, Amaya will be a shoe-in top 100 prospect by end of season if he maintains an .800 OPS/decent plate discipline at age 19, considering his potential to be a future above average defender. Possibly even a top 50 prospect.
  4. Huh. Wonder if he's getting the Brendon Little treatment from a few weeks ago where he threw out of the bullpen on his side session.
  5. Mekkes threw 2 scoreless. Needs to cut down the walks but otherwise, not too shabby: 11.1 IP, 2 H, 7 BB, 15 K, 0.00 ERA Bailey Clark now with 9 Ks in 5.2 innings at Myrtle Beach and 28 in 20 innings for the season.

  7. Meh, give me one top of the heap kind of talent over all the Cliftons, Ceases, and Maples anyday. Clifton and his $350k bonus doesn't belong in the same sentence and Cease or Maples, who were (at worst) top 10 HS pitching prospects in their respective drafts.

  9. If you don’t mind, where did Winn and Rocker go? And Connor Scott, who is probably my favorite prep bat who might be around the Cubs pick? 21. Brewers - Ethan Hankins 22. Rockies - Kumar Rocker 23. Yankees - Cole Winn 24. Cubs - Grayson Rodriguez (so three of my favorite pitchers went right before the Cubs pick in this mock draft :? ) 29. Indians - Conner Scott (also interested in Thomas, according to Law) -- I like Conner Scott too and wouldn't mind the Cubs taking him. 30. Dodgers - Alek Thomas (also interested in Scott, according to Law) Ohh, that would be annoying. Thanks!
  10. Weird that Keith Law has Brady Singer going second.. I didn't think he was that highly thought of after his slow start. This mock draft is pretty good overall. I'm surprised Cole Winn and Kumar Rocker went so low, but MLB teams want to minimize risk so I get why those talented HS arms fell. I also get why Ethan Hankins fell with his shoulder injury scaring some teams. J.T. Ginn is another super talented HS arm, but I'm surprised Keith Law has him going in the first round. If you don’t mind, where did Winn and Rocker go? And Connor Scott, who is probably my favorite prep bat who might be around the Cubs pick?
  11. WYD Mets? [tweet] [/tweet]
  12. I don’t think there’s anyone in AA deserving of his spot but Matt Swarmer might be ready for the promotion.
  13. I wholeheartedly agree with Law’s reasoning for going for a higher ceiling prospect, especially since there will likely be a dearth of safer college bats since they seem to be getting picked more frequently at the top of the draft.

  17. I really hope they send a few legit hitting prospects there as well. Maybe a couple of Velasquez, Morel, Vazquez, Kelli or Moreno. The last 2 may or may not be legit prospects, but I want to see them. I will be disappointed if the first three aren’t in Eugene.
