    Eugene advances to the NWL Finals with their second consecutive 3-2 win. They navigated around a 2nd and 3rd, 1 out situation in the bottom of the 9th. No game thread tomorrow.

    Eugene is up 3-2 in the 7th. Win and they advance. Lose and there will be a deciding Game 3 tomorrow. Reminder, Eugene had the worst record in the NWL this year and their opponent Hillsboro had the best.

    Man, he's probably one of those people that thinks the Franken thing was all a setup, right? That's one of my favorite lame conspiracy theories: "alright, we're going to pay several women to make up stories about this totally average, unremarkable, ex-SNL writer/cast member Senator, and totally crush him! That will DESTROY the progressive movement in America for DECADES TO come! MUAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAH!!!" No, he basically said it wasn't sexual assault because it wasn't Harvey Weinstein-rape, I told him that it was and accused him of laughing off sexual assault, and then he told me to kill myself. Fun times. Ahh yes, this was indeed why I banned him.

    Cory Abbott is the Cubs August pitcher of the month. Nelson Velázquez is the August position player of the month. Guessing Abbott might win minor league pitcher of the year. It’s him, Swarmer or Robinson. Guessing Jared Young gets position player of the year.

    Patrick Mooney had a piece in the Athletic on the state of the Cubs' system and in it, mentioned that Justin Steele will be going to the AFL.

    Smyly, Mills, and Alzolay serve as starters 6-8, and the FO can grab someone really cheap with experience in a long man/flex role in that $1.5 range like Zach McCallister. — What reliever are we shooting for with Almora? I don’t hate Joe Jimenez of the Tigers if I have to name someone not Rasiel Iglesias. Stanek from the Rays, maybe? Matt Strahm? I like the previously mentioned Conley from the Marlins too :wink: James Pazos from Seattle (would need to get something more in return for Almora). San Diego wouldn’t want a CF in return but I like Kirby Yates.

    Yasmani Grandal is going to get starting money from someone and won’t sign with the Cubs to platoon with Willson. I mean, he’s got the 4th best WAR amongst catchers in baseball this season.

    With the AZL Cubs 1 season over, Yonathan Perlaza was promoted to Eugene. Jack Patterson got the start in his Eugene debut after spending the summer with the AZL Cubs 2.
