  1. everything i've seen had gallardo as one of the best pitching prospects and rated as better than a number of players who got bigger money. just wondering why he took $1m. Teams are starting to pay 16-year old pitchers less than similarly-rated position player prospects. (Besides the Marlins, that is.)
  2. Probably all of those guys are too expensive for the Cubs' farm system. I doubt Ottavino is.

  4. As long as the velocity was okay and he feels fine tomorrow, I'm not too concerned.
  5. I think when I checked their boxscore, they were in a delay. Okay, good.
  6. Matt Swarmer went 3 scoreless and then was pulled for some reason.
  7. Fangraphs now has blurbs on their top prospects.
  8. Seems like Mr. Longenhagen needs to catch a game in Eugene. Marquez is SITTING 94-96 in his 3 starts so far. Arizona Phil had similarly disappointing velocity of Brailyn in Extended. It's nice to see the jump, hopefully it's real and sticks.
  9. The only nice thing about the new CBA in relation to the draft is now we get to see all the picks play part of the same season.
  10. I want another top-end reliever. We've seen the last few playoffs that you just can never have enough relievers, whether it's because of injury, ineffectiveness, tiredness, whatever. Treinen, Ottavino, Hand, Barraclaugh, whatever. I know a few of these guys are probably too expensive for the Cubs farm system, but still. Really wish they had jumped in on the Herrera trade because Washington's package looked light.
  11. It’s not a cloning machine, it’s called competitive draft picks.
  12. Oh, a new name: José Lopez - $1.5 million Richard Gallardo - $1 million Joel Machado - $850,000 Rafael Morel - $850,000 Yohendrick Pinango - $400,000 Total of $4.6 million

  14. That was his first HR given up this year and didn’t seem to have a problem with them the last two years, what am I missing? It’s not even his worst post of the day. He wants to trade Javier Báez to make space for THE Zack Short.
  15. Connor Meyers to AA. Roberto Caro to high-A.
  16. FB 87-91 (that’s college velocity), plus curve, good change, plus command. Polished/pitchability type. He used to throw mid-90s before TJS in college. Sooo stepbrother of Hendricks? I’m OK with that Yeah, after Hendricks’ success, I’ve learned to appreciate and value soft tossers way more. That said, when Hendricks is on, his game isn’t just elite control but also limiting hard contact. Thompson doesn’t do that - he has a 1.93 HR/9 thus far this season.
