    Castellanos isn’t a free agent till after 2020 unless I’m misreading Cots. Getting a RH power hitter to offset an all lefty outfield (assuming the Cubs sign Harper) is a great idea, but it would be easier to fill the gaping hole in the middle infield.

    I like Merrifield but I think the Royals will rightfully want more than the Cubs can afford in a prospect package. Additionally, the Cubs can get middle infield and utility help through free agency and better utilize their trade capital for pitching help.

    Were other teams that interested in Roederer? I haven't heard or read anything about other teams showing heavy interest in him. They might have had better scouting reports when he was healthy, but I'm pretty sure if the Cubs don't draft him he ends up going to UCLA. In a recent podcast, Longenhagen mentioned a scout for a team besides the Cubs whispered Benintendi comps.
