  1. Updated signing amounts: Ronnier Quintero, C, Dominican Republic - $2,900,000 Kevin Made, SS, Dominican Republic - $1,500,000 Brayan Altuve, C, Venezuela - $1,000,000 That's $5.4 million, now just $1,700 over the cap.
  2. Scheduled Games (All Times Central): Iowa at San Antonio, 5:05 p.m. Tennessee vs. Birmingham, 6:00 p.m. Myrtle Beach vs. Carolina, 6:05 p.m. South Bend vs. West Michigan, 6:35 p.m. Eugene at Tri-City, 9:15 p.m. DSL Cubs 1 vs. DSL Red Sox 2, 9:30 a.m. DSL Cubs 2 at DSL Tigers 1, 9:30 a.m. AZL Cubs 1 and 2 have the day off Tennessee: RHP Thomas Hatch Myrtle Beach: RHP Erich Uelmen Eugene: RHP Kohl Franklin
  3. https://www.bleachernation.com/2019/07/02/cubs-sign-the-top-catcher-in-the-ifa-class-to-the-largest-bonus-in-team-history/ Wasn't the Araujo money in the 2018-2019 period? Yes. You can’t roll it over.
  4. Quintero was ranked 6th across the board by Ben Badler, Jesse Sanchez and Kiley McDaniel/Erik Logenhagwn. Quintero’s bonus is high in the strict cap era but the 4 bonuses we have for guys ranked ahead of him are all higher so his bonus and ranking are at least in line. That said, we should be careful of solely using bonus figures since teams are starting to come to agreements with these kids at 14. There’s a chance these kids don’t progress in the next two years and the bonus no longer matches their talent. Reminds me of 2015 when the Cubs gave Jonathan Sierra their highest bonus but he was universally ranked behind at least Aramis Ademan, Yonathan Perlaza and Miguel Amaya and wasn’t even in BA’s top 30.
  5. Per Jesse Sanchez: Ronnie Quintero - estimated $3 million Kevin Made - $1.7 mullion Brayan Altuve - $1 million The Cubs pool this year is $5,398,300 so they’re over if Quintero got anything more than $2.6983 million. I was thinking this. A lot more top heavy this year. Hopefully with similar results to their last extremely top heavy call (Gleyber and Eloy):

  19. Any chance of Kumar skipping his last two years to play in Japan? What (or how much) would it take to lure him overseas? I'm assuming you're referring to the whole Carter Stewart situation (which is not normal). So, yes, technically Kumar Rocker could leave Vanderbilt and play overseas and join NPB, but it would take an incredible amount of money and it might delay his FA in MLB down the road. It's complicated (no one is quite sure how posting will work for Carter Stewart when/if he wants to return) and top draft prospects don't really go overseas. Maybe if Carter Stewart is successful it might become an option going forward, but it's a difficult transition. So I'm assuming you're asking because you're trying to figure out a way for the Cubs to land Kumar Rocker? That's not happening lol. If Rocker goes overseas and establishes residency there, he'd be open to the international spending caps considering his age. If he doesn't establish residency, I believe he'd still be under the draft eligibility rules.
  20. José López, the Cubs biggest bonus baby from 2018, is making his pro debut for the DSL Cubs 2. He is leading off and playing center field.
