  1. BA updated their top 30 with Richan and Lange gone. They added Chris Clarke and Yohendrick Piñango at 29 and 30. Still no Christopher Morel but they do have Mark Zagunis at 20.
  2. Scheduled Games (All Times Central): Iowa in progress Box Score Tennessee won 2-1 Box Score Myrtle Beach won 10-3 Box Score South Bend won 2-1 (11 innings) on a Cole Roederer walk-off walk Box Score Eugene won 5-0 Box Score AZL Cubs 1 won 5-4 on a Fabian Pertuz walk-off single Box Score AZL Cubs 2 in progress Box Score DSL Cubs 1 lost 3-2 Box Score DSL Cubs 2 won 7-0 Box Score
  3. 3 perfect innings with 2 strikeouts for Richard Gallardo. Cole Roederer hit his 7th home run of the season today.
  4. ODLC’s days of hitting 99 are history. Even as a reliever, he’s more 92-96.
  5. Brennen Davis was in the 5 who just missed BA’s top 100: I could see the Cubs having a chance at 4 top 100 prospects on some lists. Hoerner is the only lock but Amaya, Davis and Márquez should be in consideration for most lists.
  6. Technically speaking, Hultzen is still a prospect. He's never pitched in the big leagues.
  7. Worth checking out the full list which was updated last week. I’m guessing the new guys were added after the trade deadline: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2019?list=chc 1. Hoerner 2. Amaya 3. Davis 4. Márquez 5. Alzolay 6. Roederer 7. Jensen 8. Ademan 9. Short 10. Strumpf They didn’t forget Christopher Morel (14) like BA did. According to their rankings, Yovannt Cruz had been shut down previously with mild tendinitis.
  8. Box Scores: Iowa lost 3-1 Box Score Tennessee won 4-1 Box Score Myrtle Beach lost 2-1 Box Score South Bend won 4-3 Box Score Eugene won 9-2 Box Score AZL Cubs 1 lost 4-3 Box Score AZL Cubs 2 won 6-4 Box Score DSL Cubs 1 won 3-2 Box Score DSL Cubs 2 lost 4-2 Box Score
  9. 19-year old middle infielder Flemin Bautista was promoted from the DSL to the AZL. Can't think of the last time the Cubs moved a player stateside midseason.
  10. He's got a .609 OPS while repeating Eugene. He's more likely to repeat in extended spring training next year.
  11. Yeah, if this is a breakout/turning point for Marquez along with the addition of Ryan Jensen, the TOR prospects for the Cubs took a step up this year. It's quite possible if not likely that they'll both start next season in Myrtle Beach. Of course, if this a true putting-it-all-together for Marquez, it's possible he gets promoted to High-A for his next start, and, if this domination continues, he starts next year in AA, but lets not get ahead of ourselves. If not, that Pelicans rotation will be stocked with Marquez, Jensen, Thompson, Little and Sanders (and Carrera) to go along with Davis (assuming still has two hands, of course...), Morel and possibly Roederer in the line-up. That could be fun. Don't forget Nelson Velazquez in that MB outfield next year.
  12. Erich Uelmen has been promoted to AA.
  13. Box Scores: Iowa won 7-4 Box Score Tennessee lost 7-1 Box Score Myrtle Beach lost 5-2 Box Score South Bend won 5-1 Box Score Eugene lost 3-1 Box Score AZL Cubs 1 won 5-0 Box Score AZL Cubss 2 won 3-2 Box Score DSL Cubs 1 lost 9-2 Box Score DSL Cubs 2 won 11-3 Box Score
  14. Patterson ended up not giving up an earned run in July.
  15. DJ Herz threw a scoreless inning.
  16. Box Scores: Iowa in progress Box Score Tennessee lost 6-5 Box Score Myrtle Beach lost 3-1 Box Score South Bend won 4-1 Box Score Eugene won 2-0 Box Score AZL Cubs 1 PPD - Rain AZL Cubs 2 lost 2-1 Box Score DSL Cubs 1 lost 8-5 Box Score DSL Cubs 2 won 4-3 Box Score
  17. Brailyn was number 1 on BA’s Hot Sheet: https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/top-mlb-prospects-hot-sheet-72919/?utm_source=BAPR&utm_medium=email
  18. Brennen Davis off the IL. DJ Artis to Myrtle Beach.
  19. Box Scores: Iowa had the day off Tennessee won 4-3 (12 innings) Box Score Myrtle Beach had the day off South Bend won 17-8 Box Score Eugene in progress Box Score AZL Cubs 1 and 2 had the day off DSL Cubs 1 lost 8-2 Box Score DSL Cubs 2 lost 6-2 Box Score
  20. Box Scores: Iowa won 13-9 Box Score Tennessee won 4-3 Box Score Myrtle Beach won 6-4 Box Score South Bend won 13-4 Box Score Eugene lost 8-1 Box Score AZL Cubs 1 lost 8-5 Box Score AZL Cubs 2 won 4-1 Box Score Both DSL teams had the day off
  21. New MLB Pipeline midseason top 30 prospects: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2019?list=chc They also rated Hoerner at 50 and Amaya at 91 in their midseason top 100.
  22. Also Reivaj García for about a month this year. I forgot how young Amaya was. Admittedly Vázquez in 2018 and García this year had forgettable 18-year seasons in the NWL and don’t belong in the same conversation as the rest.
  23. Pedro Martínez was called up to Eugene yesterday after approximately one month in the AZL. The list of 18-year old Cubs who made it to the NWL for significant playing time in recent years is short. I might have missed someone but I see Ademan and Eloy were in the NWL at 18. Gleyber was in the NWL at 17, Parades skipped it entirely and was at South Bend at 18. So Pedro is definitely a thing.
