  1. Agreed. If he does see A+, it’s probably a cup of coffee.
  2. Jeremiah Estrada should be starting at this level.
  3. Yunior Perez starting for Eugene, working 96-98 in the first. Signed in the same IFA class as Brailyn Márquez and José Albertos, got a $600k bonus just like Brailyn.
  4. According to the comments, it was announced on the broadcast that this was top allow him to pitch in the ASG. Good. I wonder if he will get promoted to AAA after the ASB. The Cubs like giving players the ASG before promoting them but Tyson Miller deserves a promotion more than Cory Abbott and there are only so many spots in the Iowa rotation. But they’ve already promoted the most obvious guy from high-A so I think Miller is in Iowa next week (and Alzolay in Chicago).
  5. Awesome news. If he flourishes there might not be a need to trade for that elusive LHRP. At least not the ones that barely move the needle. We still need a good consistent LHRP. I wouldn't count on Hultzen just yet. Think of him as more of a late season addition/bonus. How he bounces back from being used 2 out of 3 days is important. The Cubs know they have to be careful with his injury history. Yeah, he's already a great story but you almost have to treat him like the Cubs are currently treating Brandon Morrow. I do get what We Got The Whole 9 is saying and agree with him - Hultzen might remove the need for a Tony Watson-level relief pitcher. He just doesn't eliminate the need for a top-end reliever if you really want to try to win a WS this year.

  10. Another great outing for Alzolay.
  11. They even included Hultzen as a 35+. Yeah, I saw that and he has an ⬆ next to his name too lol. Very excited about Hultzen. I hope someone asks Kiley or Eric about Robel Garcia in their chat sessions on Fangraphs. Maybe someone has asked and they just haven't responded and/or didn't bother to answer? I asked Kiley this week and got nothing.

  13. http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=milb&player_id=596825#/career/R/hitting/2019/ALL Damn. So for the Cubs list on Fangraphs I was hoping they might add Robel Garcia (like as a 40 or 35+ FV). They have Alec Mills (27.5) on there with an advanced age and Trent Giambrone (25.5) is the oldest among the position players. Robel Garcia is 26 and won't turn 27 till next year. He has legit tools and what looks like decent batspeed to me. He's sporting a .299/.381/.614 line (.995 OPS) in the minors and is still raking at AAA. His discipline and strike-zone awareness isn't the best and he might get exposed by pitching at the big league level, but I believe he deserves a shot and that he's a legit prospect now. I'm surprised I haven't read any of the national prospect analysts say something about him in a chat or tweet or something. Hopefully, he gets some recognition soon. They even included Hultzen as a 35+.

  15. Fangraphs updated their top prospects board. Miguel Amaya is now 59, Nico Hoerner 61, Aramis Ademan 108. https://www.fangraphs.com/prospects/the-board/2019-in-season-prospect-list?sort=-1,1&pageitems=200&pagenum=0 Due to graduations, Hoerner is now up to 49 on BA's top 100.
  16. I was moderately excited but then I checked and Adbert is listed as the probable starter tomorrow.

  18. There was already some discussion in the 2019 draft thread so let's get a 2020 thread up. Here is Fangraphs' board: https://www.fangraphs.com/prospects/the-board/2020-mlb-draft?sort=-1,1&type=0&team=&pageitems=10000000000000&pagenum=0 College pitchers look good - Georgia RHPs Emerson Hancock and Cole Wilcox (draft eligible soph), Auburn RHP Tanner Burns and Ole Miss RHP JT Ginn (draft eligible soph). Also, Spencer Torkelson is really good.
