  1. Oh we can more than contend with Patterson. But Dusty right now is not putting Patterson in a position to even succeed. Dusty should sit him for a few games. Let him catch his breath. And then exclusivly bat him in the 7th hole. Don't put the pressure of leading off on him and don't try to turn him into something he is not. I think it's at the point where Corey just isn't going to be successful in Chicago. He's the new LaTroy Hawkins. Getting rid of 30+ year old reliever who had a bad couple of years is different than getting rid of a 25 year old CF who as recently as last year had stretches of brilliance. Put Corey in a low presse part of the lineup and stop trying to turn him into Lou Brock. I think he can be an above average player (maybe not a star but well worth having around) for us but not if Dusty, the media and the fans keep trying to play with the kid's head. His play is unacceptable it's that simple. If you ask me, he deserves to get booed. Booing him also doesn't help him break out of it. He knows he's played bad, all booing does is to help continue his poor play and drop his trade value. Not every player the fans boo out of town can net Jerome Williams and David Aardsma.
  2. Because one is 5'7" and the other 6'6"? It's their fault they're not 6'! Well Lee's is understandable, but Corey's height shouldn't have an impact on the inside corner. All a pitcher has to do to get an easy strike three called on Patterson is throw a bad 2-seam fastball 2 inchches inside. Who knows what effect it has on Corey when he has a good grasp of the strike zone and earns a walk and yet isn't rewarded. Eh, I was being facetious. Patterson hasn't been getting the benefit of the doubt on pitch calls at all this year, which hasn't helped him much. Based on the last two years, umps seem to really struggle with determining what is Derrek's strike zone.

  4. right. Torre abused him and now he is done. That excuse would wash a bit more if it wasn't for the fact that Quantrill have been just as useless this year as he was at the end of the last year, despite the five month winter break. Is he still throwing 5-7 mph slower than early last season?
  5. I believe he's lost some weight since he was traded. I'd guess in the time he was in Iowa, he could have lost 10 lbs., which isn't much, but is something. He was weighing in at 260 when he was traded.
  6. Post in more threads (while intoxicated), plz. Great. With Raisin's new avatar it's going to feel like he's yelling every post. I WAS CONSIDERING MAKING ALL MY POSTS IN CAPS.
  7. I'm loving how my DirectTV is out so I can't watch the game.
  8. Ouch, poor Felix. He'll have missed over a month, then. :(

  10. Welcome to the board! I think Pawelek will go too, he'd be on his proper 4 days rest.
  11. I don't know how anyone can be shocked that Corey is leading off after he got 2 hits yesterday. That sort of performance upholds Dusty's thinking. I'm really upset that Ronny hasn't gotten a start yet. And good to see Aramis back in the lineup.
  12. Oh sorry, I just saw four consecutive games against Kane County on Peoria's schedule and assumed they'd all be in Geneva.

  14. Post in more threads (while intoxicated), plz.
  15. Jessica Alba > Josie Maran. Jessica Alba lives in the city next to me (Pasadena) and her brother and boyfriend go to UCLA. And she's hotter than Josie. Thank goodness Carlos Marmol is just sick, hopefully the whole team hydrates themselves better than Carlos Zambrano does.
  16. Iowa: LHP Raul Valdez (5-2, 3.91 ERA) @ RHP R.A. Dickey (0-3, 6.51 ERA) West Tenn: LHP Renyel Pinto (4-0, 1.63 ERA) vs RHP David Bradley (2-1 2.28 ERA) Daytona (game 1): RHP Juan Mateo (5-2, 3.48 ERA) Daytona (game 2): LHP J.R. Mathes (6-3, 3.22 ERA) Peoria: RHP Jesse Estrada (4-7, 4.95 ERA) - thanks for Jesse's stats, Serena. Boise: LHP Darin Downs (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 10 IP) <--Darin will pitch, not sure if he'll start or not.
  17. Iowa: LHP John Koronka (5-6, 4.98 ERA) vs. LHP Derek Lee (0-0, 0.00 ERA) - Derek Lee strikes again :o West Tenn: Carlos Marmol (0-1, 7.20 ERA, 5 IP) vs. LHP Manny Parra (5-5, 3.41 ERA) Daytona: RHP Juan Mateo (5-2, 3.48 ERA) Peoria: LHP Chris Shaver (3-6, 4.03 ERA) Boise: LHP Jesus Yepez (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 4.1 IP)
  18. At game time, it will be 88°F (and feel like 93°F). During the course of the game, the chance of severe thunderstorms will rise from 10% to 40% and temps will reach 90°F. Lovely weather... GO CUBS!
  19. Forget the All-Star game. TLR should rest Pujols, Edmonds and Rolen on the Sunday night game. That would actually help the Cubs and keep them well-rested for the long flight from SFO to Detroit. :)
  20. Sean Gallagher is the sole Cub on the Hot Sheet this week: Eric Patterson is in the Team Photo.
  21. Cool, I'm like that. :) Of course when the player is struggling, it becomes "Player A doesn't care." Thanks for posting that, Serena!
  22. Off to Polls we go...
  23. Per IowaCubs.com, Kerry hit 96 mph in each of his first three innings.
  24. Congrats, Sammy. Now go get Frank Robinson.
