  1. Mets up 1-0 in the middle of the 7th. Pedro Martinez walked Milton Bradley early in the game, and that's it. The game is on Fox Sports West 2 in So Cal.
  2. Iowa: RHP Bobby Brownlie (6-4, 4.46 ERA) @ RHP Kyle Snyder (1-2, 3.11 ERA) West Tenn: RHP Carlos Marmol (3-2, 2.81 ERA) @ RHP Edwin Jackson (5-4, 3.83 ERA) Daytona: LHP Chris Shaver (2-0, 1.06 ERA) Peoria: RHP Grant Johnson (2-6, 3.64 ERA) vs. RHP Matt Scherer (9-6, 3.40 ERA) Boise: RHP Matt Avery (1-1, 3.34 ERA) vs. RHP Joe Martinez (2-2, 3.48 ERA) Mesa: LHP Mark Pawelek (0-3, 2.40 ERA)
  3. To add to that, half of my basehits are IF singles to third or short. :o
  4. Huh? Since when did I start pitching for Mesa? :P You'll never make it there in time if you're still home. So that'll be a late scratch. Sorry. It's hard to get to the ballpark when you don't even realize you're on the team. Did you even know the Cubs drafted you in the 5th round?
  5. Ron Potesta made this post in the 8/9 game thread: Looks like the Trib was...brace yourself...wrong.
  6. Thanks Jon. I went to sleep really early, thanks to the NyQuil (caught a cold on the flight back home). What were you doing in Alaska? Cruise from Vancouver to the Alaskan coast, and then an inland tour with lots of extended family from Chicago. :)
  7. Thanks Jon. I went to sleep really early, thanks to the NyQuil (caught a cold on the flight back home).
  8. Thanks! I edited it into the list. Sorry. Boise only does live webcasts for its home games. Ron, I too enjoy your broadcasts, they're great.
  9. To be fair, he had a high BABIP at West Tenn and has been legging out tons of IF hits there too.
  10. Hrm, no one has done this yet? Jon's slacking while I'm in Alaska (not shocking, of course). Let me take a stab... Iowa: RHP Bobby Brownlie (5-4, 4.54 ERA) vs. LHP Chris Michalak (7-11, 4.33 ERA) West Tenn: RHP Ricky Nolasco (10-2, 3.33 ERA) Daytona: LHP Chris Shaver (1-0, 1.50 ERA) vs. LHP Paul Mildren (7-2, 3.16 ERA) Peoria: RHP Grant Johnson (2-5, 3.83 ERA) @ RHP Pete Kometani Boise: LHP Darin Downs (4-2, 2.08 ERA) Mesa: LHP Donald Veal - just a guess (0-1, 8.10 ERA)
  11. Between Valdez' struggles at AAA, the Cubs thinking that he'd help more out of the pen and Brownlie's recent pen success, I'm not shocked the two were swapped. That'd be nice if Brownlie's velocity was back up. You guys might want to check out today's radio broadcast (which starts in about an hour) - they'd definitely be talking about Bobby's velocity if it's up.
  12. Daytona down 10-9 in the 8th. Scott Moore is 3 for 5 with that HR and 5 RBI. Dope is 2 fpr 5 with a double. Boise is up 4-1 after 5. Yepez has 5 Ks to 2 BBs, the lone run scoring on a homer. Mark Reed is 1 for 3 with a double. Corey is now at .271/.340/.424/.764.
  13. Are you referring to the 8 strikeouts when you say "remember that it is still Mesa" or to all of what he's doing? Because quite a few other folks down in the AZL seem to be racking up the strikeouts, so I thought his 8 strikeouts was quite impressive. I like Lewis, from your writeup and from his box scores. While he hasn't hit any HRs, at least he's been hitting doubles and triples. Not bad for a 25th rounder. By the way, is the Ware kid from Georgia supposed to be a hard sign? He sounds like an intriguing pick too.
  14. Ugh, just saw the ITI article. Petrick was one of the few Cubs pitching prospects who hadn't had major injury problems yet (going into this season). Sounds like he's been pitching hurt since spring training. Look at who else is in Mesa, injured: I hope Billy does return as soon as he says he does (and that it's just a slight tear of the labrum - if that makes a difference in terms of surgery and rehab time). He's an exciting prospect when healthy. What's with the sudden bout of labrum injuries? Ugh.
  15. Fine, so when the Cubs fail to score the runner from 3rd with no outs, or a Cubs pitcher blows a pretty good lead late in the game, you can sit there and sing "kumbaya" while I express my displeasure with thier performance. Yes, because those of us who don't boo obviously are happy when the Cubs struggle. Again, what does booing accomplish? Are the players so stupid they don't understand when they failed and need the fans booing to help them figure it out? In regards to what oldcubsfan mentioned, I really liked Ryan Dempster's quotes on the topic.
  16. True -- getting trotted out game after game without making adjustments is likely another 'cause for frustration (applicable to both Corey and Hawkins). Management made some poor decisions in both cases. Then why doesn't Neifi ever get booed?
  17. I watched the highlight, Sosa immediately jumped up and took the guy by the shoulders apologizing. The catcher was nodding like he understood and it's ok. Good to hear, Uber.
  18. Have fun, Serena! I can't wait for the full report.
  19. Hi Bo, thank you very much for joining us at NSBB and taking the time to answer our questions. Where do you feel RHP Randy Wells is better - in relief or in the starting rotation? Does he throw a fastball and a slider, or does he throw any other pitches? You've had a chance to see Scott Moore in the FSL last year and again this year with Daytona. Is there anything that stands out between what he did in Lakeland and what he is doing this year that explains his breakout season?
  20. Iowa: LHP Raul Valdez (5-4, 5.63 ERA) West Tenn: RHP Carlos Marmol (2-2, 3.34 ERA) @ LHP Josh Habel (1-2, 5.04 ERA) Daytona: RHP Juan Mateo (7-4, 3.97 ERA) Peoria: RHP Grant Johnson (1-4, 4.70 ERA) Boise: RHP Matt Avery (0-1, 2.70 ERA, 16.2 IP) Mesa: LHP Donald Veal (0-0, 2.25 ERA, 4 IP) and/or RHP Alfredo Francisco (0-3, 5.27 ERA)
  21. Why is everyone always bickering in game threads? Yeesh!
