  1. Probable Pitching Matchups: Iowa (game 1): RHP Jon Leicester (2-7, 5.38 ERA) @ Chris Durbin (4-5, 5.77) Iowa (game 2): just guessing: LHP Jon Koronka (8-10, 4.30 ERA) West Tenn: LHP Renyel Pinto (9-3, 2.62 ERA) Daytona: LHP JR Mathes (9-8, 4.74 ERA) Peoria: RHP Jesse Estrada (6-10, 5.18 ERA) @ RHP Jair Jurrjens (10-6, 3.31 ERA) Boise: LHP Jesus Yepez (4-1, 3.61 ERA) Mesa: RHP Scott Taylor (0-2, 4.85 ERA)
  2. No. Personally, I won't vote for Cedeño or Murton because they didn't play as much as others like Patterson or Sing (it's not their fault for being promoted to the big leagues but having to sit on the bench, but what Patterson and Sing did is more impressive because they had more minor league ABs). I personally won't be considering major league stats because the award is for minor league accomplishments.
  3. Florida Marlins @ Chicago Cubs, Wrigley Field, 12:20 pm CT http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/mlb/images/team_logos/50x50/fla.gif @ http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/mlb/images/team_logos/50x50/chc.gif Game time weather: 78°F (feels like: 81°F) Partly Cloudy, 20% chance of rain Winds blowing from LF to RF at 9 mph (shifting to blowing in from LF) TV: FOX Radio: WGN 720 Pitching Matchup: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/425883.jpg @ http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/images/gameday/mugshots/118120.jpg LHP Dontrelle Willis (17-8, 2.67 ERA) @ RHP Greg Maddux (10-10, 4.56 ERA) Cubs better win so I can start the thread for the Sandberg game. Maddux probably has 6 games to get 5 more wins for 15 on the season.
  4. If the season ended today, the Cubs would have the 11th pick in the draft - they could sign anyone in free agency and not have to surrender their first round pick!
  5. In case anyone cares, I was having problems getting the postgame show to work last night - the same sort of problems everyone had today.
  6. I already changed my mind to Eric without you starting your case. :P
  7. Another heads up to everyone, the game starts at 6:35 pm CDT. The starting pitcher for West Tenn will be RHP Jae-Kuk Ryu (9-8, 3.24 ERA). You can listen live on the Internet here.
  8. Why would they? Van Buren had an AWFUL spring and has terrible mechanics. Also didn't he pitch in the neterlands last year? Gotta be tired. He pitched in Lansing/West Tenn/Iowa last year and had a great season, and followed it up with a great season in Iowa this year. No Netherlands for him. An awful spring shouldn't be that big a deterrent. His terrible mechanics haven't hindered him from having two great seasons.
  9. Probable Pitching Matchups: Iowa: RHP Sergio Mitre (4-5, 4.84 ERA) @ RHP Kip Bouknight (2-0, 2.57 ERA) West Tenn: RHP Jae-Kuk Ryu (9-8, 3.24 ERA) Daytona: RHP Juan Mateo (9-5, 3.42 ERA) Peoria: RHP Grant Johnson (3-6, 3.41 ERA) vs. RHP Josh Rainwater (2-6, 4.26 ERA) Boise: RHP Mitch Atkins (2-6, 5.68 ERA) Mesa: RHP Jose Pina (3-4, 4.20 ERA)
  10. With the score still 4-4, Ray Serrano opens the bottom of the 9th inning with a triple off David Aardsma. Serrano chooses NOT to try to score on an IF basehit by Joseph to Creighton (he would have easily scored thanks to the high hops on that hit). Aardsma pumps 3 fastballs past Hernandez (the last of which hitting 94) for the first out. Timmons getting an intentionally walked. Groundball deflects off Aaron Sisk's glove, allowing Serrano to score the winning run. Jaxx lose 5-4. :(
  11. Wasn't he playing left? I have no clue where he is in the lineup, but he is indeed in LF. And in other news, another lizard has forced entry into the house. :( Pitch out and the Jaxx get Blanco trying to steal to end the bottom of the 8th. To the 9th we go, tied at 4.
  12. Jaxx fail to push Craig across, we're going to the bottom of the 8th tied at 4.
  13. :-s When it gets hot outside, the lizards try to sneak inside the cooler house. In that case, I should have a house full of lizards. I would complain if I were you. The Braves tie it in the 6th with 2 runs on 3 singles. Marmol does K the side, though. The heat index at the Rangers game today was over 100 degrees (I had enough since to go to work instead). A day game in Texas in August - what were they thinking? Don't worry, I'm complaining to all who will listen. Yeah, the Angels had to play one of those earlier this year in Arlington and all the players were complaining. That's brutal (and stupid). It was only 98 here today (dry heat too), but I hated it. Matt Craig with a leadoff double. With one out, Montanez grounds out to the pitcher, they have Craig caught between second and third, but the pitcher threw it away and Craig got back to second safely. Montanez safe at first.
  14. Nolasco! Marshall, if he hadn't gotten hurt.
  15. :-s When it gets hot outside, the lizards try to sneak inside the cooler house. In that case, I should have a house full of lizards. I would complain if I were you. The Braves tie it in the 6th with 2 runs on 3 singles. Marmol does K the side, though.
  16. :-s When it gets hot outside, the lizards try to sneak inside the cooler house.
  17. Wow, the Jaxx get a DP on a sac bunt attempt! Two outs in the bottom of the 5th... Sorry for missing the bottom of the 4th and top of the 5th, there was a lizard inside the house and I had to get it out. Jaxx lead 4-2 after 5.
  18. Top 4th: Creighton flies out. Reyes grounds out, 1-3. Pitcher injured his finger - and he will stay in the game. Marmol grounds out, 5-3. 3-1 Jaxx lead it, midway through 4.
  19. MONTANEZ ROBS SOME BRAVE OF AN EXTRA BASE HIT AT THE WALL!! (If the wall was shorter than 16' tall, he would have robbed the Brave of a HR.) Marmol gets a 1-2-3 3rd inning.
  20. Top 3rd: Bacon strikes out. Greenberg triples. Craig singles past the drawn-in IF, Greenberg scores. 2-1, Jaxx. Sisk up, Craig steals second. Craig steals third on the next pitch.  Sisk pops out. Montanez singles to RF, Craig scores. 3-1, Jaxx. Coats flies out. Midway through 3, Jaxx lead 3-1.
  21. With 2 outs, Serrano ground-rule doubles off Marmol. Prado scores to tie the game at 1. The tomahawk chop at Braves minor league games:  Marmol Ks the next batter to get out of the inning tied at 1. Carlos has thrown 30 pitches through 2 innings.
  22. Second inning: Buck Coats singles. Matt Creighton flies out. Jose Reyes up. Coats steals second. Reyes lines out to RF Joseph - nice catch by the RF. Coats advances to third. Carlos Marmol grounds out on a nice play by the IF Prado. 1-0 Jaxx, midway through 2.
  23. After a 48-minute rain delay, the Jaxx game is underway. Dwaine Bacon leads off with a double. Adam Greenberg sac bunts, 1-4, Bacon to third. Matt Craig grounds out to second, 4-3. Bacon scores, 1-0 Jaxx. Aaron Sisk singles to RF. Luis Montanez srikes out swinging. Marmol gives up a 2-out single but Reyes throws out that hitter when he tries to steal second. 1-0 after 1, the Jaxx lead it.
