  1. Geez, what's with the umps calls? Blah.
  2. The Sox would be in the World Series without those awful calls in the ALCS, and would likely still be leading the Series without the HBP Dye call. But still, the umps have been pathetically awful in the playoffs - these are the best baseball can offer?
  3. way to fully end the rally, ump Yikes, some crappy strike calls. I haven't been watching all game, has the zone been that wide?
  4. Notre Dame - "play like a champion"? L-A-M-E.
  5. Keep TJ, but make that defense average and the Bears would be lucky to win one game too. Comparing TJ to the whole D, the defense wins out. Compare TJ to an individual Bear defender (say Urlacher) and TJ would be the team MVP.
  6. Wow, I thought Springer would surely give up 2 runs that inning.
  7. I'd also take Jeremy Hermida over Young or Pie.
  8. Geez, it's not like the umps haven't helped the Sox enough yet, now it's Selig's turn.
  9. MLB is requiring the Astros open the roof at the Juice Box. Go Astros.
  10. Some guy on sports talk radio made a song out of that. It had a nice melody and sound to it (unlike the songs those Nazi twins have).
  11. Angel's 1st inning: Robert Valido singles on a ground ball to third base. Ryan Roberts called out on strikes (on 3 pitches). With Brad Eldred batting, Robert Valido caught stealing 2nd base. Brad Eldred fouls out to the first baseman. 2nd inning: Josh Fields lines out to shortstop. Ryan Zimmerman strikes out swinging (on a 2-2 count), but reaches on a passed ball. Chris Young flies out to left fielder Matt Murton. With Neil Walker batting, Ryan Zimmerman caught stealing 2nd base. 3rd inning: Neil Walker grounds out, 6-3. Adam Lind singles on a ground ball to left fielder Matt Murton. Adam Boeve lines a double to RF. Adam Lind to 3rd. Robert Valido lines into double play, 1-5. 4th inning: Ryan Roberts homers to left center field. Brad Eldred pops out to SS. Josh Fields called out on strikes (on a full count). Ryan Zimmerman strikes out swinging (on a 1-2 count). 5th inning: Chris Young walks (on a full count). Neil Walker lines out to CF. Adam Lind strikes out swinging (on a 1-2 pitch). Adam Boeve strikes out swinging (on a 2-2 pitch).
  12. Not now, with Wood's trade value at an all-time low because of his injuries. I'd rather keep him and hope he's healthy.
  13. Not just Chris Young and Felix Pie: Birmingham had, besides Young, Josh Fields, Sean Tracey, Ryan Sweeney and Bobby Jenks. WT had Matt Murton, Brandon Sing, Rich Hill, Carlos Marmol and Ricky Nolasco. Then again, the whole SL is loaded. Jacksonville was ridiculously talented.
  14. I agree. I coach elementary school football and we've been told not to run up the scores or else. One of the other teams jumped ahead big time last Saturday, so that coach had some of his other kids who don't play skill positions get in and have some fun there. The other team also scored once because of this and they weren't as depressed. I think it's really wrong to run up the score with kids that age.
  15. I locked it and moved it to Rants because it became a pissing match. EDIT: Beaten by Jon. :(
  16. What's funny is he makes the same joke everytime about steroid-accusations.
  17. I think they should move to the California League, they'd have far fewer rainouts then.
  18. first: What Podsednik effect? Second: that's one run generated that way. I'd wager that they scored a whole lot more runs off extra base hits against us. They just weren't as flashy. If by "Podsednik Effect" you mean our enitre pitching staff having career years at once, then yeah, i'd love some of that on our side of town. :P Well, we can have some influence on that by putting out a team with Furcal & Castillo on the IF and improved OF defense. yeah, but if it happens people will assume it was because we had speedy leadoff types manning the middle IF, and not because our staff era drops by a run per game. I don't care what others think. If the Cubs staff ERA drops by a run per game the Cubs will be in the playoffs and I'll be content with that.
  19. I thought the Podsednik effect was hitting a .979 OPS in the playoffs after having a higher OBP than SLG in the regular season.
  20. Boo hoo! Those big bad bullies will make fun of me! It's a good thing you have met and been harassed by so many Sox fans out in State College, PA.
  21. Like XZero, I figure Walker is gone. I have no problem with Furcal + Castillo, that'll provide Hendry with his defense and give Dusty two players with good OBPs that are fast so he'll bat them 1-2.
  22. Jenks too. They may be good but they can't get the big outs. Those teams should trade them for the equivalents of Roberto Novoa and minor leaguers. They should trade them to the Cubs for the real Roberto Novoa.
