  1. I didn't know about that one. I knew about the one in Kansas because there's a college named Pittsburg State there. Yup, in Nor Cal. Oh, and Seattle will win.
  2. I didn't realize Pittsburg had a team (there really is a Pittsburg, in Kansas). :D One in Cali too.
  3. Geez, Joe Johnson went off in the second half. What he have, 30 points in the half?
  4. And just as ugly to start the 4th. The Hawks down just 9.
  5. Bulls up on Atlanta at the half 62-39. Chandler with 10 points and 9 boards, Hinrich with 18 points, but he left the game right before the half apparently injured.
  6. UCLA sweeps the Oregon schools in Oregon and leads the Pac 10 by a full game over Arizona.
  7. Seconded. And thank him for what he's done for us the last couple years. I'll never forget his Superman slide to win the Oakland game in 2004, or the time he blew a cycle in Houston - by hitting a second home run instead of getting the double he needed. Right after hitting a ball down the line that was a half foot foul and bounced into the stands. That was hilarious. And gave Roger Clemens his first loss of the season. :)
  8. I'd personally answer it that the bullpen has a much bigger impact on the game, individually and especially over the course of a season, than a corner OF. Nothing is as reassuring as a solid pen, and nothing is as deflating as blown leads late. I'm not enamored with the Jones deal in context of what it does beyond 2006, but the Cubs can win many more games with a strong pen. That is one area I have no qualms about spending early offseason $. The bullpen doesn't have a bigger impact than the offense, and Jones contributes to a below average offense.
  9. Heeeeeere's Neifi... .263/.295/.358 in 407 PA, 1.7 VORP Yikes, I'm less optimistic than BP when it comes to predicting Neifi's 2006 numbers. less optimistic? Meaning he'll have more ABs? I don't think he can put up a .295 OBP.
  10. now? Or during the game? Or both? During the game. I don't have near enough NyQuil for now, plus there aren't enough people around. I do hope all the posters not here now are busy training for the game.

  12. I am on NyQuil.
  13. I could see Piazza playing for the Italian, or David Aardsma for the Dutch, but how does one come to the conclusion that Dan Haren is even a possibility for the Dutch? 100% Irish Father, 100% Mexican mother, so how does Haren get on the roster of the Dutch? WBC is a joke. good decision danny i really think the whole thing should be nothing but angel, ranger, cardinal, and astro players No Angel players. It's always odd when your two favorite AL players are the Angels and the A's. huh? I meant teams.
  14. The Tampa Bay Cubs With More Prospects than the Real Cubs
  15. Is this when we do the Joe Morgan drinking game thread?

  17. that whole crop of pitchers is a sad, sad story. What once held such promise... Bobby Brownlie Luke Hagerty Chadd Blasko Matt Clanton Justin Jones Billy Petrick Jason Wylie :( At least there's still Rich Hill and Randy Wells from that draft.
  18. 10: Rice 9: Wake Forest, Northwestern, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Army, Navy 8: Duke, SMU, Tulane, Air Force, UCLA 7: Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Michigan, Penn State, Texas, Missouri, Buffalo, Miami (Ohio), Georgia, Notre Dame Certainly some interesting names already. Cal was rated just a 6. USC was a 3. I would think they're missing something when it came to Texas. Yeah, that sounds about right for Cal. Jeff Tedford made it a stipulation that Cal would lessen their academic standards for football players when he was hired (which were a little harder than UCLA at the time). Meanwhile, UCLA insists they are a football school as much as a basketball school, but still has higher academic standards for football players.
  19. UCLA somehow beats Oregon in Eugene despite another off shooting night from Arron Afflalo and awful officiating (the shot clock broke in consecutive Oregon possessions and the refs didn't stop play - Oregon got 45 seconds each possession to take a shot and they scored both times). Most importantly, Cedric Bozeman, who just two weeks ago was thought to be out for the season, returned and played some valuable minutes. Cal beat Washington, so UCLA has taken over sole possession of first place in the Pac 10.
  20. On one hand, I feel for him but on the other hand, he only needed to maintain a 1.85.
  21. Thanks a lot for sucking after beating us at Pauley, WVU.
  22. UCLA rarely does too. :(
  23. Agreed on Randy Wells. Also, LHPs Jesus Yepez and Donald Veal who should be in Peoria and OF Deryck Lewis who was in Mesa last summer. I think Brian Dopirak will rebound a bit this season.
  24. Actually, the Cubs have made the playoffs twice since MJ's last game as a Bull. The 1998 season which resulted in the Cubs getting the wild card came a few months after the Bulls final championship.
  25. fire the trainer! UCLA has had 7 too (Hollins, Fey, Mata, Bozeman, Aboya, Shipp and Farmar).
