  1. I mean I kind of want to for him for anything less than 7-10 (baring anything crazy like Fields misses whole season). Pretty rare to not see a 5+ win increase when your top FA spender (which they should be). But that's not realistic. However worse case scenario is things arent looking great in 2023 and they decide they are gonna reset at QB, but then by 2024 it's obvious they're a mess and you want to move on from one or both. Don't remember what their contract lengths look like, or if it was ever reported, but not being to get aligned on QB/coach timing would be frustrating.
  2. Also, if you have want a real deep dive and cultural immersion into NSBB culture, here's a launch point: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4279#p494810
  3. Every board has its running jokes, please explain this one to the new guy. The greatest poster (Da Bum) who ever graced these boards and was unjustly perma-banned by Tim and his supporters have never ended calls to "Free Da Bum" Other common support rallying calls used by his supporters include "Thick Onion Gravy" and "Mother Effin Windermere"
  4. NSBB always felt natural, but I guess it's MLB and not MLBB, after all. Tim used to have the nsbb dot come domain, but given that's no longer as asset, doesn't really matter?
  5. White and nerdy is a culture I'm pretty sure most everyone who posts here is either a lawyer or a journalist. So yeah, good call. Accountant erasure. There's no one nerdier than us!
  6. Is that good to bad.
  7. huh, you found a swear word that doesn't translate to horsefeathers. Theres a couple of them I've noticed over the years except can't remember which ones they are. I've actually often now just cut to the chase and type horsefeathers. Anyways, congrats on building this thing out and maintaining it for 20 years, Tim! Obviously all your work held value that I'm sure even the sale doesn't fully capture. Cheers!
  8. Interesting. Wonder what the median was vs average. Early returns are of games being about 30 minutes shorter right? So they should be shaving about 6 seconds off each pitch (30 min x 60 seconds = 1,800 seconds). 1,800 / 30 pitches = 6 seconds less between each pitch?
  9. This is why it's good. There's really no downside once folks get used to it and stop their pearl clutching Yea a lot of the initial freak out is the end of game scenario we just saw. A good chunk of people will never not freak out about that sort of scenario. So really just a question on players getting used to change and presumably violations getting close to nil and almost never in high leverage situations.
  10. For whatever it's worth my wife who really doesn't like baseball much sent me an Instagram reel with the new pitch clock in force and called it genius. I don't think she's even quite the target market, but I don't think it's a stretch to say some viewers may like the new product and tune in more. Will other viewers leave the product?
  11. yea, I mean justin fields was also thought about as being a pocket passer .... but he ALSO had amazing physical traits: https://thedraftnetwork.com/2021-nfl-draft-scouting-report-qb-justin-fields/ Kyle, I feel like you want to be right about something no one else was right about. I think it would give you a sense of accomplishment, a feeling of mental superiority. That's cool I guess...you be you as they say....but also accept that you really don't know much I promise you nothing on this board has ever given me a sense of accomplishment or pride. I'm appropriately ashamed at all times. Except maybe trolling imb. The only person allowed to have a sense of accomplishment about this site is Tim. The rest of us should go outside if we ever do.
  12. Undoubtedly so. But there is such a tonal difference in some of these that's very stark in the way things get framed.
  13. I think this is my favorite part of Fields NFL write up: horsefeathering Dak Prescott? Let's check in on Dak's writeup while we're here.. My mind is dizzying. Here's a great one too from a combine overview Did this person just completely mix up their Green Bay QBs?! horsefeathers it. Zach Wilson could be Aaron Rodgers now because... Zach likes him.
  14. I'm reading through some of these old NFL combine scouting reports and Kyle I guess can be kind of vindicated because apparently Fields didn't rate that highly on a consensus basis, but damn some of the way things are put on there just highlights how little actual process or science there is in scouting. Series of scouting lines right there. All somewhat discussing eyes/reads. All basically stating that improvement and/or consistency was necessary. But some are framed as potential under strengths. Others are just weaknesses. Fields has to get better at X - weakness Pickett has potential (to get better at X) - strength If you're a white QB and you occassionally throw an anticipatory read, it's a flash and a strength. If you're a supremely atheltic and gifted black passer, you need to release anticipatory throws quicker. Cuz I'm sure they never flashed it :| If you're a white passer you also occassionally get gems like this in the very same report These strengths of his that are actually inconsistent are just like a pro? Best might be athleticism. What the difference between a decently athletic white QB and Fields? I'll give anyone $100 who can guess the other 2 players without googling it. One of these lines is the total extent of the write up of Fields ability as a runner.
  15. What a quote : Uh, Zach, you never thought about being the vocal leader?
  16. So like a 30th man?
  17. You don't think they had a website then? I remember in the early internet day they didn't have the Bears.com domain, but they had a site. That was 1999 when they flubbed that. https://web.archive.org/web/20000415000000*/chicagobears.com i did think i remembered them posting it on their website... (also, if you look at the archived page from 2000, it's got a copyright date of 1999) i might be thinking of cubs.com having a don baylor profile up early or something like that. Good find. For some reason I thought they also had acquired the Bears.com.domain since then as well, but I just looked and apparently not lol. Maybe they didn't even have the ChicagoBears.com domain at some point too? Anyways, love those old pro sports websites before the leagues got a hold and standardized them all.
  18. Is that a reliable source? They once said they hired a coach they didn't. this was posted on their website, they didn’t have a website when they made that erroneous coaching announcementYou don't think they had a website then? I remember in the early internet day they didn't have the Bears.com domain, but they had a site. That was 1999 when they flubbed that.
  19. The bears announced that move themselves Is that a reliable source? They once said they hired a coach they didn't.
  20. I agree raw. Something like Brisset and maybe like Hendon Hooker in Rd 2 (which wouldn't preclude a bigger swing in 2024 if there opportunity) At least let Jones hit FA. I'm not sure who would really break the bank on him? Like he's somewhat interesting, but probably not a plug in system QB for a lot of teams based on what NYG looked like using him. In a "successful" season.
  21. Lol. That's what you're going with? Hurts doubled up Mahomes' passing yards in that game. You're intentionally being stupid and I'm done with this conversation. He lost a fumble while running the ball (fields fumbles a lot) and failed on a 3rd down conversion in the fourth quarter. That's all it takes to lose playoff games these days. ROFL.
