  1. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/snetsrak43/murt.png Feel free to use.
  2. I have seen some people dropping him in some of my leaugues. I picked him up if I had an extra DL spot. What's your opinion, is this a smart move or not?
  3. I'm not buying it. Confession: During my last draft on yahoo I picked Derrek Lee for the first time. Less than a week later he breaks his wrist. Yahoo Fantasy is out to get me.
  4. At least something positive came out of the Nomar trade. I do miss Nomar, though. :( You mean the Murton trade? To be fair, he reeked of "throw in" to me when we traded for him. I remember the day we traded for Nomar. I heard of this Murton kid and wondered "Why would Theo give up a kid like this that's hit so well at every level?" But, I think he'll be a cornerstone for years to come, and I couldn't be happier. That won't matter to fans when he is an all star.

  6. Yea I could have really seen Jones forcing it if Murton hadn't tied the game. There wasn't as much pressure, he just had to get a hit. Down 3-1 though Jones might have tried to be a superhero and failed.
  7. By "everyone," I assume you're indicting Dusty and Hendry. Nobody with sense loved Macias. If you recall back to 2004 or whenever that was there was some mad Macias love going around and it took a couple crappy months for it to die. Maybe we have learned fromour errors but it is fan nature to jump on the bandwgn.
  8. In one of my leagues I had drafted Maddux. I had some good pitchers and was unsure about Maddux so he was on the bench to start the season. Superstition and stuff I kept him there cuz u know the instant I put him in the lineup he'd give up 40 runs in 1 1/3 IP. I am not doing so hot in this league, it is one of my worst, if not the worst. So right now it is awfully tempting to start him. What do I do?
  9. Well I guess we'll be missing out on shots of her like Wood's wife during the 2003 postseason. If you weren't convinced before I'm not sure what it will take. Don't worry though, Bynum will have a hot 5-10 days like Macias did in May 2004(?) and everyone will love him.
  10. Thats a long list not to give up for Cabrera. And I would think Florida would want to wait till the trade deadline to deal him for a team that woud be more desperate for a playoff run. Give up Guz and Marsh. They prob wont want Murton. Deal with bad D in RF with either Murt or Cabrera. Have an expensive 4th OF in Jones. This isn't probable anyway, but if you wanna go for Cabrera sell what you need to now and know that when Lee is healthly it will REALLY pay off. Serious contenders there. We wont get Miquel cheap. Pay up big now or we will have to make a big run with healthly Wood, Prior, Miller, Lee. That may be enough. If you think you need a Cabrera to pick up slack pay a little bit more than you'd like. It will be worth it when we are serious WS contenders.
  11. Did Ron go into specifics about what Gene and Gary said to Matt? Because if all Ron reported is the general statement you have written above, that Murton is too patient and needs to be more aggressive, the conclusions that can be drawn from that are few and far between. Were they referring to every situation? If so, then the comments you have made are somewhat justified. But if they were referring to only certain situations, then I would say you have jumped the gun with your criticism. Unfortunately, without more specific information on what the coaching actually was, any comment in support of or being critical of their coaching requires a rather large assumption and becomes pointless. Yea I would definately like to hear the context. Certain situations might call for a more agressive approach. I cant recall a specific time but maybe u gotta sometimes take a chance if it means a run. Right now at this point in the season if u miss o well. If you have a chance to make a difference without being TOO agressive take it. Especially for a young guy like Murt he should figure out what he can hit for when its important down the run. I know this goes against what I said before what sometimes agressive might pay off. Matt should figure out now between when and when not to be agressive.
  12. LOL  Seriously I hope he realizes the coaches just suck and that he knows more on how to be a good hitter.
  13. Another aspect to look into if you want to make this real confusing is taking into account when the player signed the contract. If he signed the deal in an overpriced market do we take that into account? You could take the average conract given out to that particular position player and see how far % above the average that guy is. So for instance AROD signed his deal in a overpriced market. Everyone was throwing around big dollars. So if you take the average salary handed out to FA SS in that year or two year span, and see how far % above that average he was paid you could incorporate that percent into their OPS. Although you may want to just argue that it doesn't matter what th markey dictated at the time and it doesn't change the fact they are terrible now, which is a valid arguement.
  14. Can a new Yahoo league start now if you put one together? Here's what I would do. Create a league (assuming you can) and invite all the "victims" in your league to play in your league. Fill the remaining spots with anyone who would be interested. Once you get the new league set up, have everyone dump their players in this other league so that the "commish" can't have any more fun at the expense of others. Beat him at his own game. How fun will it be for him to beat up on an abandoned league? I think they are still accepting new leagues, but Live Drafts are over and you have a four team limit and I would guess most people, myself included have hit that limit.
  15. It gets even better: New Message from the commish reads: TITLE: u "dummies" who vetoed "i can always drop abreu and utley and sanders and wilson and do the trade myself. im the comish. in fact, i think i will do that" Its like free comedy. At least he admits to cheating now. CubbyBlue if you could send me a PM that'd be great.
  16. Well the commish had said he would ban voting against trades for the day and still hasn't followed through on restoring it. I'm still locked and I don't envsion that changing, but I'll keep tabs for a little while at least because now there is some heated discussion in the message boards although it is a little unclear about what cuz its just a slew of uncomprehedible grammar and swearing. Thanks for the tip on emails BigBadB. I'll make sure to make a list at the end of the season based on people who stayed active and such.
  17. Maybe he did, but don't think just because he is declining is good enough speculation. There are plenty of guys who took steriods that we will never hear about- Guys who you would be surprised took steriods because they didn't make them much better. Whether or not Edmonds did means little to me. And honestly this post was very trollish.
  18. This is a Rant, but fantasy related. Feel free to move. If you saw this following trade had been accepted would you think someone was cheating or that someone was a huge idiot: Reggie Sanders and Jack Wilson for Utely and Abreu Heres the story in case you are interested: I immediately thought cheating and although the two teams did not have the same username the guy on the losing end of the trade had not been in any other leagues for any sport at any time. That along with the fact that only an idiot could make such a trade was enough for me to make post complaining about the cheatingand makin sure everyone was gonna veto it. Then I see after looking closer that the winner of this trade is the commish. So I made a post saying its a dead league, the commish is cheating. Then one more post saying just in case the other user was just flat out stupid I was gonna try to take his good players(and I did make that trade proposal). Today I checked up to see how that had resolved itself and the commish made a post calling me a dumb sack of ****. No big deal really just gave me a laugh. He locked me from doing anything, and it really wasn't an issue, the other leagues I am in will keep me busy enough, so its no big loss that I wont be in this league. But the commish then made another post saying because of what I did he was banning voting on trades, so now its all up to him. Yea, now I really believe that hes not cheating. I know I'll be told just to jon leagues with people I know but no one I know is into this so that isn't really an option. But really why do people want to win SO badly against a bunch of strangers over the internet that they go as far as to create seperate yahoo accounts so they can trade with themselves.
  19. 6'4'' 205. Thats right about what Mabry is listed at so I'll could be any of the corner infield or outfield. Whenever I create myself in MVP im a 3B or RF so either of those works. Maybe I'm just a Utility Player.
  20. Where was the ball hit? If it was to the right side, the guy has some decent speed and the RF is average, it is a risk worth taking. If it was hit to the LF who has a cannon and the guy is slow then yes it was stupid. So which scenario was it?
  21. Give it time to sink in some before you decide its unoriginal. The original Wrigley probably didn't have much character. Any of the defining characteristics of Wrigley werent around until the 30s at least right? And at that time were they immediately classics. I'll give it time still.
  22. I wont get too excited yet, but it is encouraging. Lets hope Dusty uses them correctly and not too much. There will likely be stretched were it will look bad but we'll have to just wait and look at the season as a whole. If we wanna be successful its gonna be how we end the season. Whoever is hottest and the end will do the best.
  23. I'm happy for the sweep. Its a long season though, I can keep some perspective. But my Card fan friend will be getting s*** tomorrow! Just like he did yesterday and today.
  24. I unfortunately could only catch the last couple innings. The box score gave me some idea, but how did Marshall do?
